USPS increased their pricing quite a bit starting Jan 17 2016. You also don't get a discount with click and ship online anymore.

They also increased rates on the flat rate priority boxes.

We are unfortunately in the process of moving away from USPS entirely. Initially there were a good number of nice to have options associated with dealing with this carrier. One of the biggest plus items were the reasonable flat rate options. With this gone the bad now outweighs the good ten fold.

In the last week we have had two missed pick ups with one being weather related and the second simply because of their staff issues. The rise in orders being online "click and shipped" from our facility but not scanned in at their facility is currently sitting at 50% of all packages shipped. We are now forced to physically check all tracking numbers the following day to make sure they are properly scanned and on the way. With the worst part being it can leave our local facility without being scanned. This results in no one knowing where an order is and in many cases us reshipping and dealing with usps on our own to find our product.

I can't imagine any business having the time for this added headache let alone the increase in all services.

Last year we calculated that we could save thousands of dollars by switching from the post office to their flat rate boxes.

We lost more in five months of using the USPS than the supposed yearly savings. They kept losing our packages and refused to pay the insured amount on every one. They always had a new excuse or the case just never closed, or they just claimed it was delivered even though the tracking number didn't even show it entering the correct state. At least UPS pays the insured value if and when they lose the occasional package. It was a nightmare.

PLUS, angry customers.

It is amazing how 15 years ago we all got hit with "fuel surcharge" fees for shipping packages, and yet now that fuel is cheap again, the prices continue to go up...
