I was on my way to Atlanta when I got stuck in a bunch of traffic. The car got pretty damn hot so I'm now pulled over letting it cool down. I have the fused fan fail upgrade and I normally run well below the first tick at normal highway speeds. Is this just my car or do Deloreans not do well in stop and go?

Well I let it cool down a bit but now it dies when I tried to restart it.

It's good you pulled over when you did. It's good it didn't go much higher than the half way mark. If there isn't constant airflow over the radiator for an extended period of time engine temperatures will rise like in your case. The cooling fans should kick on to prevent the engine from getting any hotter than that. If everything is working as it should, you shouldn't ever go into the "danger zone".

It is possible your fuel pump overheated? How hot is it outside? Did the engine get gotten then 220?

It got hotter than 220. It's probably around 60 degrees outside. I tried to get into a faster lane but couldn't.

Got it started. I think I may have pulled the fan fail wire loose when I installed the new relays. Then I had what I assume is the hot start issue. I gave it gas while turning the key and it kept going. I could hear the fans running again while slowly going down the street.

Your circuit breaker for the fans is probably too weak and over heated. It resets when it cools down. Check for loose connections or such. Check the wiring over closely. A single circuit breaker for both fans should be 40 amps.
