Has anyone ever implemented this before?

Basically, I'm going to scrap the DLM and install a simple relay setup tied with a Viper 211hv system and Hummer H1 power lock switches.

Our door lock solenoids can not be powered for much more than a few seconds. I would guess you can wire up something to work as long as you don't keep them powered for long. You will loose the door unlock function with the inertia switch being set.

update the DLM for a few bucks and you're good.

the remote/alarm connects easily to the original DLM.
looks stock, clean, works reliable and easy to do.

I have Toby's actuators, so that's not a problem. I am replacing the function of the bellcranks with an electrical switch, and looking at a diagram from this forum, the bellcranks and the inertia switch are connected in the harness.

I successfully tested this today with two Bosch relays and a window switch. I changed the setup to what is pictured below. However, to retain the functionality of the inertia switch, I either must use a separate inertia switch or a relay to convert the unlock ground signal to +12v.

I am going to mount the lock switches toward the front of the door air vent bezel. I am also moving the power window switches to the same air vent bezel. I have used a piece of balsa as a filler/reinforcement for the gutted bezel. Next, I added tape on top to prevent leak through, and I filled the underneath with an epoxy. Tomorrow, I will seal the top of the balsa with a coat of epoxy. Once it is all dry, I will sand the top, coat it with SEM trim black, and cutout the holes for the switches. Below are pictures of the two door air vents with balsa and epoxy. Once I receive my switches in the mail, I will begin the requiring process.
