Anyone have a photo (or video even) of the backside of an installed door lock cylinder? I mean the view you would get from the inside side of the door once you've removed the interior trim pieces.
I am doing a latch and lock procedure/adjustment, and while I think it went pretty well overall, I have some slop right at the door lock cylinder. It's almost as if it has some free play between the cylinder turning and before it starts to engage the clasp on the back that the rod connects to. I have a C-clip sort of thing in mine, and it looks like that is tight, but for some reason it feels sloppy.
Specifically when I turn it towards the rear of the car (on the driver's side door I am working on). This is the unlock direction for me. If you think of it in terms of a clock face, when the key isn't in it, it sits at 12 o'clock. Turning towards the front of the car is my locking direction, and the key goes to 10 o'clock and then back to 12. When I turn it towards the rear for unlock, it goes all the way to 3 o'clock (i.e. horizontal) and then turning it back towards 12 o'clock it seems like it catches on something and that's where the slop is. I just don't see what is not right that is allowing it to go beyond 2 o'clock to 3 o'clock as I don't have anything else to compare it to.
My door cylinders were replaced soon after I got my car as the place I bought it from didn't give me any door keys. My mechanic put those new ones in and I can't say for certain he did it exactly as it was intended. I recall the newer cylinders required a different notch in the stainless, but I never got into the details of how he did that. Pictures would really help if someone has any of their car.
