WANTED: short door trim / door seal piece

Hi all,

When I first got #10515 this short door trim / door seal piece was there, but it wasn't there after it the car was overhauled at DMC. Unfortunately, DMC won't sell just that one piece of trim/seal :(

SO... I'm hoping someone out there has this piece sitting in a box of stuff in their garage and will sell it to me for a reasonable price.

It's for the driver.

The piece you describe doesn't exist because it is part of the portion you see still at the top.

It goes from the top corner of the door opening (about where the torsion bar is) and follows the contours all the way to the door sill at the bottom. You end up trimming it to go around the striker pin part there in the photo. You don't need to cut it completely into sections, but putting a partial cut on the inside edge of the corners allows it to sit down flat better.

I don't want to buy the entire trim, as the rest of mine is in good condition - I just that piece :) (All of the other cars I've looked at has this as a separate piece.)

I'm hoping someone has it left over after they replaced the entire piece... :)

When they ran out of original stock they switched to uncut full length reproduction seals for each A & B post. I still hand cut our seal kit for a consistent and exact fit and can duplicate the original two piece seals just as easily.

That's good to know Rob, as I hadn't realized that. I'm not a very big fan of a few of the seals that come without being cut in advance. Might be ok if you have the original to use as your sample, but most guys that buy replacement seals for cars are doing so because the old ones are torn up or worn out or missing all together. The door sill seals were the same, i.e. not cut for fitting in and around the door lights or drain holes.

That's why I cut them in a fixture to insure an exact fit because the old seal is usually beat up and were poorly cut/fit at the factory in many cases anyway. I may sound like a schill for the company (well because I am!) but I sincerely believe our seals (Specifically the Door Surround #110044 x 2, A & B Post #108982-9GL, and Door/T Roof #106967G & 106968G are by far the best quality and fit available. They will last twenty years or more with minimal care. Try that with the competition some of which dryrot after two or three years.

+1 ... I've never seen it in sections and I don't think factory correct. So there's no seal at the striker area? Doesn't that look weird and leave the area with an unfinished look?

Some cars came from the factory with two piece seals and they where provided to the original dealers as replacements as an upper and lower section in exactly this form. See my previous post above for some more info. Remember we are an original dealer (the only surviving to this day) so this is not a guess...it's a fact.
