Door locks (throwing locks) issues

Need of some expert advice

I've been off the DMCtalk for awhile but now have extra free time and
Noticed my doors locks now do not flip in unison
Anymore, it's been sitting for 6 months or so.
But I have started it every few weeks so it stills runs great but

I can only get the passenger door to move the lock of the driver door
But only slightly it's not enough to throw the lock either way
The driver side does not effect the passenger side door at all.

A couple years back I had the lock module redone by Hervey for the second
Time, so I doubt that's it?
Any suggestions?

Start with the lock and latch procedure TSB. Report back.

to me this sounds like the solenoids are toast !?!

do you have a fuse in the fat red wire of the door lock ECU ?


some simple tests are - open the door lock ECU and push the relais by hand.
just push for a second, don't hold them !!!!

AND note - both door should be closed or the latches should be set with a srew driver
as they would be in the closed position. Don't forget to set them back before closing
the doors !!!!!

now by pushing the relais - (of course not both at the same time) - how does it react ?


more ideas:

burned solenoids
misadjusted rods (on my car one door has a problem since the winter, too, adjustment just slightly off...)
hard lubricant
a resitance in the electrical system for example: water / rust in the roof and oxydized connetors
relay pulse too short maybe due to bad capacitors (very rare)

Are you running the stock door lock module? I think I remember Hervey did sell one that had some problems.

Hi there,

This is all good advice so far. Since it's been sitting, in particular, check and clean the connectors for the solenoids(male/female portions of the 3 bullet connectors), and this switch:

I have been rebuilding my OEM system, and during the process, I had a lazy passenger side until I cleaned those mechanical switches. They are soft metal so I used 1000 grit sandpaper and some WD-40.

I will try those ideas
But it in the meantime the locks worked perfectly before I stopped driving it about 8 months ago.
But I still started it every month or so.
Does that help on direction?

Update I can hear the relay clicking when I throw either lock and I got the driver door to throw the passenger door
Most of the time however still having issues with the passenger throwing the driver lock
All I did so far was sand and clean the three prong connected (but not the swiper arm Swicth in the lower door panel)
Trying to avoid pulling that panel off...
