During the process of replacing the broken trip reset shaft, I broke pin that holds the speedometer needle. Does anyone know someone that can repair this? The speedometer has worked perfectly and been quite accurate, but the trip odometer does not work well.

My friend, I believe you are screwed. I did this back in 2013, and it ended with me replacing the speedo.

Look up speedo repair shops. Maybe they can help. Compare pricing with DMCH. Maybe now is your chance to get the 170 MPH speedo? Might be cheaper than trying to fix your old one.

One large speedo shop said they would not have parts to fix. Tried to get an upgrade to 140mph through DPI and after a long time only got my original speedo back still broken. DMCH now charges over 500 for an upgraded speedo. Any resource would be welcome, or anyone with an old speedometer for parts would be welcome.

I have an old speedometer with a broken tripometer reset that could be used. PM or e-mail to discuss ([email protected]).

I'll bet they don't realize it's the same as almost every 70s GM speedometer inside.

If you still need a speedo, I have a 140 that I can repair (the face) with your old parts. PM me if you're interested.

the nice thing about the 85mph speedo is that if you dont look at the numbers too close, you can pretend your going faster than you really are
