Hello,

We just purchased our first DeLorean on Monday. Tonight I noticed a part that I believe is missing from the driver's side that is on the passenger side. It is a vinyl wrapped piece beside the seat. I have pictures of both sides of the car. I've looked through the service manual without success trying to find a name for it so we can purchase one for the driver's side. Any help would be appreciated! And sorry if this is a lame newbie question. :) Sarah44519445204451944520

Welcome Sarah! Congrats on getting your DeLorean.

What you are missing is a portion of a larger part. That rear trim panel and armrest are generally together and you look to have the trim panel portion but not the armrest.

They are shown on this page of the parts diagrams:

http://store.delorean.com/c-319-8-7-5-general-interior-trim.aspx

You'll see a whole bunch of them listed as part # 42 on the diagram depending on what colour interior you have (looks like gray in your case) and whether you have the early or late style panels (before or after VIN 6092/6093 apparently).

This is about what you need:

http://store.delorean.com/p-10074-trim-pnl-armrest-lh-grey.aspx

The $0.00 price tag means they aren't available at the moment. You probably want to call your nearest vendor and ask them about what your options are. DMC is headquartered in Houston (so are most of the parts) and the DMC affiliated franchises are in Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, and south of Tampa Florida, as well as PJ Grady's in NYC. Take your pick. Vendor preferences are often related to distance and personalities.

Excellent, thank you! I was looking at that diagram and thinking it couldn't be called an arm rest, but that makes sense that it's just a section of a bigger part.

This is worded a little confusingly, as PJ Grady is not affiliated with DMC but a separate vendor. You will also find DeLorean Performance Industries to have superior parts and service as well... www.deloreanindustries.com For certain items (LCA's, torsion bars...) also check out Byrne Heninger's site here... http://deloreanupgradeparts.com/ Also, there is another DMC franchise which does sell some great parts in the Netherlands... https://www.delorean.eu/catalog/index.php
I know DMCMW (Chicago) orders things from DMC-EU and can sometimes save you money on shipping!

Before placing an order you should discuss with the vendor what other things you need. Among them could be air and oil filters, relay upgrade kit, extra key, cleaning pads, struts (for the doors, bonnet, and rear sunshade), door seals, manuals, and a lot more. Unless you know the recent service history you should change all of the fluids and filters. That includes the brake and clutch fluids. Check the date codes on the tires and if over 7 years old they should be replaced. The battery after 5 years or if it fails testing. Wiper blades. Unless it has been used regularly the fuel tank should be cleaned out and any questionable components replaced. Inspect the fuseblock and relay area behind the passenger seat for any signs of heat damage or rodent infestation. I recommend before doing any "cosmetic" work you make sure all of the mechanical and electrical systems are functioning. Get insurance on it right away. Preferably classic car insurance with "Agreed Value". Title and register it too. Depending on what your State offers historic, classic, or collector plates are the way to go if you can live with the limitations on use. In the meantime clean it up, that is the best way to get familiar with your new car. Try not to get too much water on the top of the motor when washing. For the interior leather try Leatherique's Rejuvinator (leatherique.com) to get the leather soft. There is a lot of info in the FAQ section so you might want to read up.
