Is there a easy Seat Back Fix.....

My board is not broken, and the backs have been falling off since the car was made.... See in pic of Jonny Carson with John.... it was off then...

Who has a easy fix?

Cut two 14" long sections from a 3/4" wide x 1/8" thick piece of aluminum stock (Any good hardware store carries aluminum stock) and butt them up against the rivets of the upper mounting bracket to the side mounting brackets. What you're doing is joining the brackets together to gain more rigidity. Drill a 1/8" hole through the aluminum stock and the upper bracket ends and the side brackets and install rivets with backup washers on the soft board side. Be sure to put a metal plate or durable material between the board and the vinyl backing so the drill does not damage the material. Next drill and rivet two more evenly spaced holes between each of the two brackets directly into the fiberboard and install rivets and more backup washers. Drill one more at the end of both sections that extend below the side mounting brackets to add strength. I don't have a picture because I don't have one to show you at the moment but I can say I've been repairing them this way for over thirty years and its worked every time so far. If you're not in a hurry I may be able to get you a pic at some point. BTW you will probably need to re-drill the two lower panel mtg holes in the seat frame to get them lined up.
