Ok, so why is it that auto sites like oreily's or autozone dont have an entry to select Delorean as your car.....but...Crutchfield does

Was looking around for a stereo for my car and found crutchfield...was surprised they actually had Delorean listed in their vehicle selection....and you can select with or without flux capcitor.....

Because they only list cars for which they actually carry parts.

You won't find McLaren or Ferrari listed either. Doesn't mean anything.

..but...Crutchfield does

Because car radios are pretty universal, or can be adapted as such.

I had to look at the Crutchfield site. Too funny! Love a company with a sense of humor! Thanks for sharing that!

Yes, I know it is neither a radio, nor a CD player that the Instructions are for.

Some companies, especially if they are smaller, will cater to orphan makes. Large chains like O'Reilly's and AutoZone count on high turnover of their stock and really don't care about the limited demand of orphan makes. Especially if they are over 20 years old. That doesn't mean you can't get anything at the chain stores. If you can cross/reference the part you need they may have it, just not listed for a Delorean. But even the cars that are cross/referenced to are getting older and older too so the chains stop stocking parts on old cars because the turnover is too low. They may be able to order it from the warehouse but at that point you may be better off just getting it from one of the Delorean vendors. In some areas where there are more older cars you may have a better chance of getting parts. In the larger cities where everyone is driving newer cars it is hard to get parts for old cars. Every day the old local parts stores (that aren't chains) where they can recognize the parts and not need to look them up are disappearing. These days if the kid behind the counter can't look up the SKU for the part it doesn't exist for him. And he has no way to help you figure out what to do except maybe refer you to the little old store down the street (if it is still there). Radiator shops for cars are all but extinct.
