Dear DMCTalk Readers,

My name is Jordan Livingston. Some of you have either heard of me or met me over the last five years at various DeLorean events around the US and in Belfast. I've been working tirelessly to self-produce a comprehensive documentary about the history of the DeLorean and the international community of DeLorean owners - you!

The ongoing project is going well, and continues to move forward, but none of it would at all be possible without the continued support and assistance of the DeLorean community itself; again - yourselves!

I'm reaching out today in the hopes that some of you might have some archival footage to donate to the documentary. We need anything and everything - from original TV commercials, dealer videos, and of course, TV news reports and interviews with John - anything historically significant or relevant to telling the complete and TRUE DeLorean story.

Some of this footage currently exists on YouTube, but in general, the quality is fairly low. I'm hoping that you can all dig deep into your VHS and BetaMax archives and try to come up with some "original" source materials which I can digital re-master for inclusion in my doc, and for posterity.

If you have access to any such footage - commercials, dealer videos, interviews, TV news, etc., please contact me asap at [email protected]. I can arrange for shipping and handling, plus insurance, for your precious collectibles - which will all be returned to you promptly after they've been professionally and painstakingly digitized.

Thanks in advance for your ongoing support and assistance with this project!

Very Best,

- Jordan

Copyright and distribution issues aside, if you're looking for broadcast news archives, do a search on "DeLorean" here:

It's not cheap, but does seem to have it all.

Kind of off topic, but Jordan is a top-notch guy. He came to my house last year and filmed myself and some friends cruising around in our DeLoreans. I can honestly say he is an honest guy and very reliable. I can't wait to see the movie.

Not sure if you can use this, because I believe it was CNN that I taped... anyway I video taped my TV with my digital camera when JZD died. I recorded the scrolling CNN banner/ticker tape thingy madoey. It is on VHS tape so I don't know if you want to use it. It's not ideal. I don't think I have the digital file. Let me know and I will look for it.

James at DMC (Texas) might be able to help you. He's frequently looking through the seemingly endless archives of original DMC artifacts from what I hear. He may have come across something at some point already that may be of interest to you.

Hi Marty,

I'd be happy to take a look at the video if you can find it on VHS tape! If anybody else has any actual recordings (not just filming their TV screen) that would be greatly appreciated as well!

Thanks,

- Jordan

I am looking for my 1982 Motorweek episode where they reviewed the car and will send that to you.

Also, for what it's worth, the Associated Press has a searchable archive. You have to pay to play, but once you're registered I believe you can download at the highest available resolution whatever they've got. Of course, they were merely a print and photo service for a long time, so I am not sure about what, if anything, they might have from back in the 1970s. It might be worth giving them a shout and seeing if they might have anything you could use, and then register so that you can access their archives online.

James, are you reading this? For the record, the folks at DMC have been extremely supportive, helpful, and generous with this project - including providing some great photographs and other still images. I actually was not aware that they also had a video archive so I never asked them about it. James, any videos you can share??? Please email [email protected]. Thanks!!!

Thanks, Farrar! I hope you can find your 1982 tape! Please let me know asap if you do... I'm also in the process of checking out your AP tip but my understanding is that they didn't focus much on video back in those days... We'll soon see!

I have an assortment of videos on my website. Feel free. I don't own these videos. Just have them up there for the community to see.

I also put this together a while back...

I'm glad to hear that things are going well with this project and that Jordan is one of the most passionate film-makers that I have ever met. He never badgered me for anything about the car; such as a glowing devotional or a series of degrading remarks and I think that his film is going to be, not only unbiased, but THE BEST documentary ever made about the DeLorean car.

I can't wait to see it.

Awesome - thanks very much for this!

I've downloaded all of these clips but I have not yet been able to view them on my Mac (recently updated to OSX "Lion," which apparently can no longer play back WMVs until a forthcoming update to Flip4Mac is released... anyway...).

Do you also have any of the source materials from which these files were digitized? My goal here is to get as close as possible to the source without additional layers of compression and re-compression.

Thanks again!

Unfortunately what I have is what I uploaded in it's exact form. I don't have any other alternatives...
