Im wondering if anyone has put in a lead to allow connecting to the battery directly on both pos and negative?

My brand new charger requires a direct connection to the battery...but really its a pain in the butt to get the battery pulled out of its hole enough to be able to connect to the side posts on the battery, so I wanted to put a lead in the engine compartment so I could connect there.

How hard is something like that to do?

With a low power charger you can use most any connections going to the battery. I use the cigarette lighter which you can buy the plugs and wire to your charger. You just can't exceed the fuse rating of fuse #17.

You didn't mention the type of charger, but my Battery Tender came with this handy lead. I just connect the leads to the posts, then have the extension plug sitting behind the battery door, ready to pull out and plug into the charger. Most of the wire is on the charger side, so it isn't much extra wire in the battery compartment and no messing with pulling the battery to charge it!

I have a duralast charger, the only leads it has are the big ol clamps that attach to the battery. If I attach it anywhere but directly to the battery it just sits there complaining about no battery. Sadly I have an old Craftsman charger that does work connected to the jump points in the engine bay, but the meter doesnt work anymore and could easily overcharge.

Perhaps you can convert your alligator clamps to appropriately sized ring connectors?

That wouldnt help...I'd still have to pull the battery out of its hole to connect them
