DMCH Headlight Switch - LED Bad?

Hi all,

So back in SEP I purchased the new DMCH Headlight switch to replace my original one that went bad. Today when I started my car for its monthly start-ups, I noticed the blue LED in the switch that is supposed to illuminate, stopped working. The headlight switch itself seems to be working as it should, so I imagine the "magic box" that came with it is functioning as it should too.

So , I wonder has this happened to anyone else? Do you think it's just the LED that went bad or is this the prelude to the entire switch going bad? Does the "magic box" have anything to do directly with the LED coming on /off? I still have a few days left on the 90 day warranty, so if I have to replace the whole thing, I'd rather send it back, otherwise, I guess I can live without it lighting up and buying an LED later.

I went under the console and played with the connections, wiggled things around, and nothing changed; thought maybe something got loose. I'm a bit disappointed that something so simple like this can go bad so soon.

As soon as the headlights come on and I press the switch to "off", I hear a very faint "click" about 2 sec later within the switch (I imagine that click is associated with the LED dimming and turning off - some timer or relay or something), so I am hoping this is isolated to just the LED bulb.

Im sure its probably a led. I just checked mine and the faint sound you hear the dimmer relay for the led clicking. If you have another led or regular bulb, #74 bulb, just pluck the switch button off and use a small needle nose pliers and remove it and put a new one in. If your headlights are working normal then i can see it being nothing more than the led. Probably just a bad connection. Can you pull out the LED and check the pins? You do that from the back side, pulling that center white holder.

The LED on mine does the same thing sometimes. Tap it a few times and see if it turns on.

I guess I will mess with it sometime when I have a chance. As long as the switch it working, I won't worry about it too much. I'm just hesitant to take the faceplate off again, I feel the dang thing has to support so much pressure from the radio console, I'm afraid I'll crack/break it trying to get it back on.

I'll start ordering some extra LEDs in the meantime.

DMCNC, well, at least I feel relieved I'm not the only one. I really didn't want to hear that I had to buy another switch for $90, and I'm glad it's just the dumb light.

Sure no problem and glad to help. You could pull it all out or just pull and remove the push button cap to expose the led from the front and use a small pair of needle nose and pluck it out. All I did in changing the color.
