Hello all,

I have a question about parts originality. Does anyone have some insight on original belts? Do the belts in this pic look original or have they been replaced? I'm 99% sure expecting that they've been replaced.

Thanks

Get yourself a copy of the Millennium Concours manual. I would have to look it up but I don't think they take points away on the belts.

The question is about the belts? The only belt in the photo is the WP/Alt belt.

David points to the Millenium Concours manual. It says this about the belts:
"A/C compressor belt must be Goodyear 105505, in excellent condition. Alternator belt must be cogged belt, with Renault and Dayco identification markings, in excellent condition."

If you're just wondering whether this alternator belt has ever been replaced or is it original from the factory, then I'd say the answer is that it is not factory and it has been replaced at some point (because the name on it that's partly legible doesn't match what the Concours manual mentions).

If part of your question is to figure out the condition of the belt and knowing whether it was original or not helps you do that (i.e. if it is from 1981, then you should likely replace it), it might still be a good idea to do a visual of the edges to see if it is frayed, or ideally, just put a new one on for the sake of peace of mind. They aren't expensive and they aren't difficult to change.
