Windshield wipers

Do your windshield wipers do a few wipes when you start your car. I just replaced my column switches with a new one due to a broken highbeam stalk. It still does what I would call a courtesy wipe.

Not right at all, you may have an incorrectly wired ignition switch.

I would second that, when I had the wheel off to replace the stalk switches it looked like someone had been in there. Future plans would be to replace that if I can

Does it do only 1 cycle? If it continues doing an intermittent wipe you have the wiper on intermittently. If it just does 1 cycle and stops every time you start the car that is not right. Something is wired incorrectly or you have something defective. The way you put the wiper into intermittent mode and turn it off is a little unusual in the Delorean and sometimes you have to move the switch more than once to get it to stop.

Get a closer look at the wiper relay tray that's (supposed to be) mounted up and on the pedals assembly. You might have something plugged in wrong with those components. If it is only coming on right when you start the car, once or twice, that almost sounds like the timing of the key or door buzzer. Like instead of sounding off your buzzer for an annoying couple of seconds once you first start the car, it wipes your windshield. Not a bad alternative mind you if you've never had the joy of listening to that dying quale of a door buzzer.

Play around with the door plungers with your fingers and the door open and see if you can make the wipers start and stop. Or peer around and look at the wiring attached to those plungers. Might just be something got crossed up with the wiper wiring.

Another thing to check, make sure the 2 door switches on the driver's side do not have the wires crossed. They should be taped off into pairs. Make sure each pair goes to one switch each. Unplug the timing module for the wipers and see what happens.
