temp gauge points down after cleaning bulk head ground

cleaned the bulk head ground and now the temp gauge points down, any thoughts?

You probably have a corroded pin on the small white bulkhead connector with the light green/blue wire.

Hmm ok, it was working fine before I did the cleaning. I also sanded the connector when I had the binnacle out

You might have inadvertently folded over the connector tab when you put the binnacle back in. Unplug it again and have a look.

Sometimes the needle can just get stuck. I think it is caused by the electrical transient when you turn the ignition key. I have a short piece of fine solder that I keep in the change tray just for this purpose. I bend a slight L-shape into the end of the solder, and with the ignition key on, I snake the solder in through the trip reset shaft hole and gently nudge the temperature needle. This unsticks it every time.

Good point on the needle getting stuck. Wasn't one of the suggestions to give the side of your binnacle a nice, firm whack with your hand to free it up?

I gave it a love tap and it works normal now
