Does anyone's shifter make an annoying vibrating/buzzing sound while they are accelerating from a stop which will end once the car gets to a consistent speed. It is the plastic strip that is vibrating on plastic plate housing. If I put my finger on it I can stop it. Does anyone know have a suggestion on the best way to fix this?

Mine did. The sound was coming from the selector cover(the part that slides with the lever) vibrating against the trim panel. Easy fix, remove the cover, and the slide cover. Attach two strip of self adhesive felt to each side of the trim cover at the opening, but facing the slide cover and out of sight, then reassemble. If you need, I can take a few pics later to better show.

Hi Michael, yes that's exactly what it is. If you have pics I would love to see them. How do I properly take that apart without breaking something on the dash?

I couldn't find the pics on my computer. I will have to take mine apart to show you. Trust me, it's not that hard, just remove the two screws behind the shifter plate and lift the back up. You may have to remove the small screw from behind the mode switch and remove the ac panel(which holds the front of the center console panel down. The shift panel just clips in place, so carefully unsnap those 30 year old clips and the panel pops right out, along with the shift lever(it's easier to pull it out with it).
You may be able to simply remove the slide and bend a mild curve in it, which may or may not fix the rattle. I put the small felt strips in it just to make sure it's fixed. If your slide is all scratched up, just order a new one from DMC(they are cheap) and have it ready before starting.
