Leak at door rubber

Hi all-I've got a question about an interior leak. I posted a while back about sourcing a leak, and you guys were very helpful-thanks!

I have finally narrowed down exactly where the interior leak is coming from, and I was hoping some of you may have some insight into how to fix this.

On the passenger door, towards the front of the car, there is a rubber seal that runs along the lip, and down to the rocker panel. The rubber seal itself meets end-to-end at a point on the contour of the body, and right where the two ends of the seal meet, is where the leak is happening.

The foolproof way to solve this would be to use an adhesive between the rubber seal and the body, but this is obviously not smart, long term. Has anyone solved this issue by chance? Thanks for any ideas!

That seam (the ends of the door seal) is supposed to be positioned at the front about 6" up from the door sill about where the door switch is. There is also supposed to be a short piece of tubing inserted into the each end of the joint into the hollow section of the door seal.

Mines at the rear of the frame - installed by DMC NW that way.
I've also seen the seam at the bottom of the sill dead center.

I think anywhere but in the roof area is probably OK. Lower the better.

AHA! Thanks for this. I do not have the tubing insert here. The seam looks to be about 6" up on the front, at a position that would be less than ideal, in terms of gravity. Maybe i can fashion something to join the two pieces. Thanks!

My current door seal does not have this rubber tube and I think only one side of my last seal had this. Anyway, I have found that in order to avoid leaks, if you put a small amount of black RTV over the area where the two sections meet, your leak issue should be solved. It is hard to notice the RTV unless you're really looking for it.
