I can't imagine anything salvageable from this:

WARNING: have your tissue ready after seeing the bad shape this one is in.

Jesus.

I'm pretty sure that has been burnt beyond the point of it even being considered a car anymore.

I don't know how they even got it there in one piece without it crumbling apart.

Meh, id be all in if it were only a manual.

Wonder if this is one of the cars destroyed in the Gatlinburg fires last year....

Out of curiosity I went back to review the photos and couldn't even find one that definitively shows what type of transmission it has (had). :dunno:

EDIT:

Found it! It was like one of those where's waldo adventures.

Actual cash value $25,000, repair cost $25,000? Like to see the math on that one...

I'm amazed they actually took the time to photograph and list it.

I thought this must have been an exaggeration before I clicked the link. You'd probably do better off building one from scratch.

VIN question withdrawn...see it now on the post.

Wonder what the Carfax report looks like.

That must have been one hell of a hot fire.

I used to think you could repair/resurrect anything but now I know that isn't the case. This isn't a DeLorean or a car or an anything anymore :dead: We salute you VIN 1968

Yes, it is/was Alex's car. He was at a few tech sessions.

Hmm, I'm very sorry to hear he lost everything. I hope he is ok. Those wildfires were a real tragedy.

I'm genuinely curious:

-Why bother listing something that's so completely destroyed?

--Would anyone actually be interested in buying it, and why?

The only reason could be for the VIN to swap onto another car.

I doubt the plates even survived

You could probably make a piece of abstract art out of it...

Find the VIN plate and you can build a new car!

Bingo!

If I had a large enough garage, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'd weld the remnants together to keep the remains intact, shove a few hidden lights inside here and there, and would then mount it on the wall as a large piece of reclaimed garage art.

That or place a huge piece of tempered glass on top to create a coffee table.

How about the chassis? That could be salvageable. The heat probably melted the epoxy too. Ha.

As you can see with the springs, under extreme heat the metals properties are compromised. I would not trust the chassis!

I'm sure they didn't but if you are in the business of transferring VINs, I doubt that the manufacture of a new plate would be much of an issue.

I was referring to the actual VIN Number (sorry, OCDers) moreso than the actual plate.

The only other reason would be some sort of internal Ins. Co. paperwork requirement that stipulates that a written off car has to be advertised for X days in an attempt to recoup as many $ as possible, irrespective of condition.

That's what I was thinking too. You don't even know the condition pre-order damage either. I wouldn't risk using it.

Hmmm... Maybe a little bit harder to rebuild than the Vixen, but still doable.
