I just responded in another thread to an owner who may be having intermittent pump problems (pump appears to come & go). Part of my response referenced owners who corrected electrical problems at their pumps by regrounding the inertia switch.

The inertia switch certainly seems prone to melt. They were melted on both my cars prior to my purchase. Since the inertia switch is so accessible, would it not be a good idea for all owners to reground theirs to the body bolt below the door diodes (behind the carpet)?

You're still dependent upon the frame to battery ground, which does seem to be the DeLorean problem du jour, but it affects the whole car (if your frame ground is bad, you've got bigger problems than just the pump).

I was planning on doing this before I put Sparky back on the road. I will take pictures for reference if anyone wants or needs a visual aid.

If memory serves, there was a TSB re-locating the inertia switch to a location by the trunk (boot) latch. If a car's inertia switch is there, a different grounding location might be more convenient. However, I have yet to see a D whose inertia switch has been relocated as per the TSB.
