Hi,
I don't fancy the stainless steel aftermarket reservoir for various reasons.
But long story short, what are my options? My old one is crumbling and soon to return to Mother Earth.

If you don't want stainless then an ally one is your other alternative.
Plastic coolant bottles were remade a little while back but are no longer in production for various reasons.
If you aren't bothered about it looking original then you can modify the pipework and use a coolant bottle from a Volvo 760 of you can find one of those for sale on eBay/scrapyard etc.
For years I was adamant I didn't want a metal coolant bottle, but with my original starting to show signs of age I relented last year and fitted a stainless one. It's a pain that I can't see the coolant level at a glance and now have to remove the cap to check it. But better that than the thought of having to replace head gaskets due to cooking the engine...

I think Mike is saying that an aluminum (ally - alloy?) coolant tank is an alternative to a SS tank.
The one I got long ago is black anodized aluminum. Well built. If forget which vendor sold it.
Does anybody know if the black anodized aluminum tanks like this are available someplace? Local owners have asked me about it.

The Volvo one isn't even remotely similar to the delorean bottle . I think Volvo were using the same ones for their 4 and 6 cylinder cars. If I'll have to adapt the pipework, I might as well use any other random coolant bottle.
We'll see what happens :)

No it's nothing like the DeLorean bottle, however I mentioned it as it can and has been used by owners in the past.

Yeah, I got a new Volvo bottle off of eBay for 20 bucks, so I'm gonna give it a try:)
Thanks!
