Price my Parts?

So, got a few oddball parts that I have no idea what they're worth. I will be selling, but wanted to price fairly. NLA guys.

1) OEM early-VIN clock (http://store.delorean.com/p-7029-clock.aspx). 100% fully functional, have a YouTube video to prove this.

2) Radio faceplate. DIN sells for $163 (http://store.delorean.com/p-7793-face-plate-din-radio.aspx), I have the original Craig/ASI guy (http://store.delorean.com/p-7792-rdo-vent-sw-mt-plt.aspx).

Also a question on wear and tear:

3) Rock screen (http://store.delorean.com/p-9705-powdercoated-rock-screen.aspx) with bent up gridwork but still installs fine. How much of a price hit is that?

4) Both (http://store.delorean.com/p-6462-exh-manifold-456.aspx) exhaust manifolds (http://store.delorean.com/p-6460-exh-manifold-123.aspx), rusted. Again, price hit?

5) Asbestos heat shields. Yes, asbestos. Really don't think I'll sell these guys without being offered $200 for them plus a guy coming to my garage to pick them up dressed like someone died there. I don't even know how I got someone else's asbestos but whatever, do concours guys even use these? I'd douse the bastards and dump them if it were up to me, but money's money. Would never make it a liability however, I ain't about to ship cancer to someone's house.

Anyone know when the last time an OEM clock was sold? Or an OEM radio faceplate for that matter? If I had comparison points in pricing, great, but my best guess for an honest value on the clock is between $100 to $1,000.

Hi Shep,

I think the stock heat shields and cast iron manifolds have value, depending on their condition. If they are fairly good and complete, they can be refurbished. Here's my adventure with them and the rest of the OEM exhaust:

Yes, you have to take precautions when handling asbestos, as the dust is bad for your lungs, but once painted, it's fine for a heat shield in my opinion. Brake pads, not so much.

That's an insane price difference for what amounts to a "first world problem" of not needing to source or make a $20 adapter, wow, I'm actually quite thrown by that. Who'da thunk it?

Given it's used, I'll price that guy at DMCH's price. Premium for the original radio cutouts, but discount for being used. Sounds fair to me :)


once painted, it's fine for a heat shield in my opinion. Brake pads, not so much.The phase "brake dust" is pretty self-explanatory on why that's a bad idea for brakes, yes. Keep in mind, I have aluminum heat shields also. I also have two smaller radiators (A/C maybe?) that means I have two cars' worth.

The mystery behind that one has been explained talking to DPI Josh, evidently when my family picked up 95% of those parts, they grabbed an extra box that was a "dispose" box. The asbestos was -- and is -- vacuum sealed inside a bag that was meant for immediate hazardous disposal. My family did not know this, and thought it was mine. Before anyone says this is "dangerous", it must be noted that the vacuum seal only broke yesterday when I grabbed the bag and a metal part inside my garage punctured the seal. So we're talking literally over five years of "when you gonna get rid of that?". It has been resealed outdoors in a Ziploc, but that ain't going to hold much.

*** There's one per car of these, but DPI Josh made it clear that while I can sell it, it is totally NOT okay to do it again. This was the exception to the rule, but both are clearly worn to some degree.
