There's a reason these MSO's and window stickers didn't go on the cars and sat around in files long after those cars were shipped to dealers.

Most all of those offered by the trustee are incorrect to the car as built.

I will say this also though, Shep. I've read a few more of your threads or posts since you've returned and was wondering if maybe you could return without all the anger or rage/spite? Just reading your comments on either the console clocks or door opener systems and they aren't very pleasant. Was kinda hoping you might consider toning it down a notch or two 'cause you've leaned into a few people out of nowhere and without much reason to do so.

I think we would all like to have more owners here on the forum contributing, but not in all circumstances. If you're not ready, that's cool, just take a break until you can play nice (I'm trying to be sincere about that as none of us know what goes on behind the scenes with anyone else).

As for the console clocks, well, what I've said is out there. If it grows from there, don't expect me to back down, but again, point taken, I will dial it down a notch, absoutely :)

Just finished signing off on paperwork, but until I have the title in hand, I'm a bit hesitant to post any further details, for the same reason I never posted 559's Bill of Sale -- didn't want someone sabotaging the deal. I know 90% of you are good guys, but you never know who's lurking around on Google trying to snipe a good deal for the worse, so just taking precaution.

Side note: just noticed that your username may have been an unintentional inspiration for 559's license plate. All these years, and I never noticed that until now. LOL

Anyways, back on topic: I noticed that some of these VIN chronologies use the full digits. I wonder how it'll handle 537 in terms of sorting since it has an 11 digit VIN as opposed to a full 17 digit VIN, and starts with a different character entirely...

No gold DeLoreans had a grey interior to my knowledge ...

These are the 'official' golden DeLoreans:
- VIN#04300 ( saddle interior - manual transmission )
- VIN#04301 ( black interior - automatic transmission )
- VIN#20105 ( saddle interior - automatic transmission )

Then you had a privately, gold plated DeLorean ( VIN#01542, black interior - manual transmission ) and DeLoman's 'replica' ( VIN#10853, ORIGINAL 3th saddle interior - automatic transmission ).

As far as I know, pilot 28 and the Visioneering car are two different cars. Pilot 28 was a 'real' car and was officialy destroyed and the Visioneering car was a 'show' car. Am I correct with this?

I just wanted to clarify that the final DeLorean built by the original DMC was in fact a Gold panel car.

Also does the visioneering car still exist? If so does anyone know where it is.

As a side note, there are additional original gold DeLorean panels that exist, used as test panels, including one very long term environmental exposure test.

The existence of these gold panels was conmfirmed during the research for the recent book, Zu früh für die Zukunft: Das DeLorean-Drama.

At the time, one panel was still mounted "outdoors" on a special fixture, for outdoor environmental exposure, over 30 years later.

Speaking of gold plated cars, is the history of where they were plated known... e.g. at the factory or here in the US? I ask because when I was getting quotes for yellow zinc plating, I talked to a plater who said that a friend of his, who had also founded a plating company, relayed the story that he plated 2 Deloreans in gold many years ago. I didn't probe for more details as I thought they would have been plated at the factory, but I can if they may have been done here in the US, and if this is an unknown detail.

They definitely weren't plated at the factory. They were plated elsewhere and attached to the two Amex cars at the factory.

Sorry, I don't recall where they were plated. I think it's in SSI and Nicks book, but I have neither with me.

We have an incomplete list of several thousand cars by VIN that lists engine number from the factory.

The underbody of 20105 has textured pontoons and an early chassis number, so if we had the engine number, it's likely to be on this list.

As this number is usually obscured by the catalytic converter, it's the hardest to get.

I help to maintain the VIN chronology along with Citizenkid. We are trying to list all Deloreans made with information such as original interior color, transmission type, location and manufacture date. We also collect VIN plate photos. THis is the plate located on the driver's side door sill. Please look at the attached file to see if everything is correct for your VIN. If something needs to be corrected, please contact us. We've been collecting VIN photos to get a history of the cars. The VIN plates have a manufacture date on them. There have been interesting things show up. VIN plate styles changed during the history. A couple of cars escaped with no manufacture date stamped on the plate. Another car had two VIN plates issued to it with two different manufacture dates.

We know that the '82 cars ran through 12170. The VINs from 12000 to 12170 were changed to 17000 to 17170. I've never seen the 12XXX VIN plates in that range. It would be interesting to know what happened to them. I would imagine that they ended up in a landfill.

One thing that was surprising to me was the change in the ratio of five speeds to automatics each year. Each year they made more five speeds (percentage-wide). The trend of five speeds from '81 to '83 was 62% in '81, 78% in '82 and '84% in '83.

In 1981, 53% of 5 speeds were black and 47% were gray. For the automatics 67% were black and 33% were gray.
In 1982, 5% of 5 speeds were black and 95% were gray. For automatics 18% were black and 82% were gray.
In 1983, 27% of 5 speeds were black and 73% were gray. For automatics 42 % were black and 58% were gray.
Total - For 5 speeds roughly 43% are black and 57% are gray. For automatics roughly 62% are black and 38% are gray.

In 1983, 27% of 5 speeds were black and 73% were gray. For automatics 42 % were black and 58% were gray.
Total - For 5 speeds roughly 43% are black and 57% are gray. For automatics roughly 62% are black and 38% are gray.
