I tried looking on here..I know it was on the old forum.......

My car now has the dreaded annoying hiss in the dash....this, after I replaced the headlight switch with a DMC upgrade (my radio also now doesn't have power from tucking the LMS brain box and wiring back behind the dash, but that should be much easier to solve).
I thought I was gentle with the knobs and faceplate when I put them back together, but i must have torn the vacuum diaphram.

So now, what are the steps to R/R the mode switch and to repair it? I've never torn the dash out past the faceplate/knobs, but am definately mechanically capable..in my humble opinion....

Also, I see DMC has an updated repair seal. Any feedback on it? It's $40.
Hervey sells one for $30...any feedback on his? Couldn't find a picture of it.

Thanks for the help!

Josh!

Before you spend any money, check to see if it has fallen off.

When I did my headlight switch saver mod, i knocked it off and got the hiss.

quick fix.

There is a rubber device with multiple vacuum hoses on it that attaches to multiple nipples on the back of the mode switch. if it comes loose you get the hiss.

You need to shine a light in there (and feel with your hands). It's simply a matter of pushing back onto the mode switch - the toughest part is lining up the pattern of the rubber device with the nipples on the mode switch.

It worked!

I felt behind the mode switch and found the rubber connector with the vacuum hoses attached..I then felt two barbs close together on the switch at the 12 'o clock position and the same on the connector and pushed them together.
Eurkea! no more hiss and the vent controls work!

Thanks so much Dave!
