Fair Price for Stage 3 Clean Delorean.

Hey guys...I'm the guy who's working on trading that 2017 Silverado for a Delorean. I found a guy willing to trade. He has a super clean Delorean with 97k miles and the stage 3 crate engine only has 37k miles. It's really clean and hes put a lot of time into it. I'm waiting on confirmation from DMC to check out the history of the vehicle. What's a fair deal for my truck plus his delorean. Obviously I'm asking for some cash back. And if it's truly in the condition he says how long would it last as a daily driver if well maintained? Thanks a lot. Stage 3 engines are stock internal prvs with a non charge cooled super charger, k jet and an extra injector. It's like a blow torch in the combustion chamber. Surprised it lasted 37k. If you are planning on a delorean being your only car I would reconsider this move.

Wow, that looks like a nice car. Pictures of the engine (and specs on whether it is a Stage 2 or 3?), and the frame would be helpful to assign a ballpark value.

So far from just what I see here, it's at least north of 40K (subject to more information).

Based on that invoice, it was a stock OEM Engine. Not a Stage anything.

True...he takes forever to respond to messages. Hes an older gentleman so that's understandable. It's a twin turbo v6 volvo. Hes put a lot of work into the car and when I find out exactly what engine it is yall will be the first to know. I do know that it was a brand new 0 mile crate engine that now has 37k miles now.

I'd say that car is worth more than your truck (>$50k). It's a nice truck, just it is now used. This car will not have anything to detract its value. If the guy is spending $1000+ on headlights I'm guessing he put something into the underside too.

I didn't look at your invoice. Was the work done at DMC Houston? Looks like this car was living in the Austin/San Antonio area.

Now I have to say...all your posts bring a certain stink of disbelief. This cars in these pictures are known. The pictures also track into scam sites in late 2016...so there is also that. I'm guessing this "old guy" lives in that "town" from another more unusual thread on the board.

if it's for real and the two of you are happier with the other's vehicle, then I say swap away and be happy.

It's real! I've researched his posts about the car and hes owned it for years. He called Stephen Wynne (owner of DMC) to get the ok to give me all the info on his car. Waiting on the call. I thought the engine swap was done at dmc Houston but it looks like he had someone else do it. He said last time he took it to DMC was two years ago. I'm excited for this car. Driving down to Dallas to pick it up as soon as I get my title. Hope it drives as nice as it looks.

There are several cars out there in the x00,000 mileage group. The Hollers car is about 800k give or take, albeit with a replacement engine.

btw, there are very few Stage III cars in existence, hence the doubt that this is one of them




*Bearing in mind that the level of maintenance required would probably be well above your 2017 truck.

We actually have a disclaimer now. The guy that blessed our builds for driving on water turned out not being the son of Christ. Last time we use craigslist for anything....

Most of us are just showing general concern and caution. I know you really want a car and I hope this works out if it is legit. There are just a number of red flags associated with it up to this point including the service invoice posted. The owner could very well be misinformed about what he has as well. When you have more details directly from the owner post to this thread. There are a lot of good people on here willing to help you sort through the buying process.

Why not sell the truck and use the proceeds to fund your DeLorean?

Also, I would never daily drive any DeLorean. Sell your truck for $50k; spend $40k on a nice DeLorean; spend $10k minus $100 on a cheap daily driver; spend your extra $100 on a nice bottle of scotch.

That's the problem. I owe 12 in taxes to the IRS cuz its seen as a 50k profit. Highest offer I got is 35k which is nice but I figured I could get a good trade. If his delorean is like he says then it's a good deal. Reupholstered, crate engine, tons of parts, sound system and I get cash back.

Thing is I'm meeting him halfway in Dallas...he lives in San Antonio. Appreciate the offer. I'm getting all the information that's possible. It's definitely legit. His facebook is just full of his delorean. As well as his linkedin and he rents it out for events. I will make sure I have all the proper paperwork before I do anything. But the guy seems legit and has spent a lot on the car. When I find out new info I will update. But so far it seems great.

Can we really say that the car is worth $50k from the 3 very basic pictures we have? We don't know the condition of the frame, what modifications have been done to the engine or any of the supporting mechanicals, what transmission it has, etc. We do know that it has 100k miles and a replacement engine, though... 2 things that might make for it being an excellent driver, but I would think would detract from someone who's willing to pay in the $50k range for a "trophy" collectible. Don't get me wrong, from what I can see the car looks to be in exceptional condition. I just think more information is needed before a value range can be assigned to it.

Around 12k.
