Have you used a Plastic Restorer on the Louvre and Trim???

Hi Everyone, I am looking for a bit of advice. My louvre and trim is somewhat faded. It is otherwise in good shape. I am wondering has anyone ever used a plastic restorer on it? If so what were the results?

Most that I have seen do not last very long. The more expensive ones that leave a semi glossy to glossy hard coating are the worst because when they fail(and they will) it flakes and is just an unsightly mess.

The cheaper "back to black" type dressings might be your best bet. You will have to apply them more often but they will not leave any hard to remove residue.

Another option is to paint but unless they are just roached, I would try to restore the black plastic. It's only original once. The louvers are of course painted. A lot of people swear by SEM trim black and I use it a lot in my business but it is single stage paint and it will not hold up long term to sun and elements.

Yeah, I chose to paint mine. The paint shop did my required SEM Trim Black, but as Michael said, they recommended (and I agreed) to then do a satin clear coat. It turned out great. Now, I only have to gently wash the louvers, no dressings needed.

I use 303 protectant and then buff off with a microfiber.

I use Auto Glym Bumper and Trim Gel, it is brilliant stuff - I've only had to apply it once in 8 years of ownership, and it still looks great.

Everyone thank you for the advice. I might have been about to do something stupid. I might go the way of Auto Glym Bumper and Trim Gel. I read a little about the product and it might be just what I need for the Louvre and the Trim, Mirrors as well.
