(After the failure of my first post, it was clear that something else was needed to spice up interest)
Rugby World Cup
Anyone following the Rugby World Cup currently being held in New Zealand?
USA just beat Russia which was a little surprising as I didn't know that USA had a national team. I have never seen it played here except by British expats.
And from the UK, a range of ads for potato crisps/chips

mmmmm interesting.
My original Rugby thread had only 13 views over three days. But this new thread, containing the same facts (and a couple of pictures) has 34 views in a couple of hours.
I wonder if there is a correlation between having the word "breast" in the title and views :headscratch:
Who knows? Who cares? Now back to our sponsors.....................
Note to self, get into rugby.

Rugby IS a contact sport, right?

Here's your chance.
USA take on Australia (2nd favorites) at 04:30 EST (US time) tomorrow (Friday). I'm sure it is on live on ESPN or something.
Full Disclosure: They will probably field a men's team rather than the ones shown above :smashfreak:

Australia 67 USA 5 :(
Australia 67 USA 5 :(
Holy crap, are we that bad or is Australia that good? I don't understand rugby all that well but I'd assume this is an ass kicking. I mean, there is no 62-point zone or shot that the Aussies hit in the final seconds right?

In this case it is that Oz is that good. They are ranked #3 in the world behind New Zealand and South Africa though for the World Cup they are second favorites behind the favorites South Africa. USA is ranked 17.
Aust, NZ and SA have been the power houses for decades with the UK countries having periodically great teams. At the moment England is 4, Ireland 6 and Wales 7, though Ireland have beaten both Australia and US in the tournament to date as they are all in the same group.
Match scoreS usually more resemble US football scores rather than basketball scores so 67-5 is a bit of a whitewash. ( for reference a 'try' ( think 'touchdown') is worth 4 points. The night before, New Zealand won their game 87-0.

"Is Rugby a contact sport?"
Rugby players are regularly cited as a reason to change the BMI rating because it ignores people who are built like a brick shithouse and are technically clinically obese without having an ounce of fat anywhere on their body.
Viewers of Top Gear (UK) may have seen the episode where former England captain Lawrence Dalaglio had to have a new seat installed in the reasonably priced car because he couldn't fit in the existing one.... and was told that the might have come top if he didn't weigh 250lb.

I know you are all following the World Series, open to all baseball teams in the ……….US,
But in other news…..
Rugby World Cup Quarter Finals tomorrow morning at 1:00am EST (US)
Ireland vs Wales
England vs France
South Africa vs Australia
New Zealand vs Argentina
(see what they did there – competitors from more than 1 country in a sporting World Championship…….. j/k)
Pubs in Ireland are opening at 5:30am for the game, though they can’t serve alcohol - just a big breakfast and lashings of tea. Just checked on ESPN, and they aren’t covering it. I guess interest dropped off after the US got put out, and both fans were busy washing their hair
The only given is NZ beating Argentina. The other three games could be close.
I’ll go for the semis being Ireland/England and RSA/NZ
