Greetings DCF members,

The DeLorean Club of Florida is once again planning to attend the The MIDFLORIDA Auto show & Lake Mirror Concours in Lakeland, FL, on Saturday, October 19th. Those that attended previously know that this is an event that you won't want to miss.

Registration on the website opened July 1 and is an on-line format only, (i.e. no mailed paper registration form option). Please register soon to take advantage of the Early Bird discounted rate of $51.50, and post here or send me a PM so we know who is planning to attend. The Early-Bird discount ends on August 31st.

As you fill out your registration, here are a few items to select:

Show: MidFlorida Auto Show (Downtown)
Class: Exotics
Car Club Affiliation: DeLorean Club of Florida
Other: Prepare a 150 word description for your sign and have 3 pictures (Exterior, interior, and under-hood) to upload.

The MIDFLORIDA Auto show & Lake Mirror Concours is held in the streets of historic downtown and around the shores of beautiful Lake Mirror. This year’s festival will take place the weekend of October 18th – 20th, with the car show on Saturday. This year will be the 20th anniversary of the show.

Also, please indicate your interest in meeting for dinner after the show in beautiful Lakeland.

Hello DCF members,

This is just a final reminder that the early bird registration for this DCF event is in effect through the end of August, so there is still time to take advantage of the savings.

Also, MidFlorida announced that they were successful in reserving a block of rooms at the nearby Hyatt Place Hotel with a special car show rate that’s a $50 savings off their regular rate. If you are interested, here is the hotel flyer:

No, unfortunately not. I haven't put them on yet. Now that the cooler weather is here, I may have time to refurb them this fall/winter.

Definitely. Like prior years, we can meet up at 7:30AM at the Southgate (Publix) shopping center located at: 2515 S Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33803

As before, we are scheduled to arrive at the show promptly at 8, so we will leave together and caravan over around 7:50 or so.

I'll send out an email with this information as well.

Hi There,

I've been monitoring the situation throughout the day. As of right now, the show organizers have said that tomorrow's show will take place in two neighboring parking garages and that the event is still on. But the forecast is for thunderstorms all day and “strong storms” while the show is going on. I’ll check the forecast early tomorrow to see if the forecast changes drastically but as of now I agree to cancel our participation. It's unfortunate, but I wouldn't want us to risk our safety since we are all traveling there in our cars. It may be different if we had trailer queens.

I'll provide a final call by 6 am.

As of 5 AM, the weather forecast is the same: thunderstorms all day and strong storms/wind while the show is happening. Due to this, and the rationale above, our participation is cancelled. Of course everyone can make their own individual determination to attend if they choose, but the weather for the day does not look good.

Did anyone go? What was it like?

I got a report from a friend who was judging concours cars that in general, there were much fewer cars there due to the weather, and they had the show in 2 parking garages. He said there was one local (Lakeland) DeLorean there.
