Here are some pics of the LSEAT Leather seat covers. I opted for perforated inserts. These are dim gray, they came in 4 weeks. They were 300 plus 30 for the perforations.
I cleaned the rails and painted some rust spots. I popped the springs and pulled off the slide release bars. I was going to paint them, instead I chose to cover them with 3/4" black heat shrink tubing.

How does the stitching look? I was thinking of getting them for my DeLorean but I'll probably get them done locally. I'll probably use them on my other car though.

The stitching looks great. Everything nice and straight, and even. See pics

Very nice!!

When the time comes to do new seat covers, I'll be buying from LSeat.com for sure... $300 is the right price. I also like that LSeat offers embossing, embroidery, and different color piping!

PLEASE update this thread after next summer to share your thoughts on the perforation.

So these are basically less than half the price of the DMCH seat covers? They look really nice. What's the catch.

I guess I'll have to see how well they hold up? They seem great so far. Nice luxury feel, and full leather for the seat backs is even included.

New leather seats are good for the planet! By turning cows into seats we stop them from killing the planet with their farts :-)

To respond to the obvious troll, making leather is incredibly polluting, and an insane amount of water. But whatever.

My next project is cutting through the floor boards for a Fred Flinstone type propulsion system.

Ever since your original post, I've been giving this a lot of thought and some research. Basically anything that seats can be made from are terrible. Your options are using a dead cow skins or non-biodegradable petrochemicals. That's why we're all going to the bad place no matter what choices we make.

That's why we're all going to the bad place no matter what choices we make. It's true that many of the materials we use to make stuff are pretty awful (concrete, plastic) and it's true that leather can be extremely durable (although magnitudes worse than most people realize). Of course if you were the flavor of hippy which I'm not, then you might be promoting hemp or something for seats.

I have a bag and wallet made our of cork, but it's not durable enough for your backside to sit on.

The L-seat covers really are nice, and you can't beat the price. If either of my DeLoreans need new seats, I'll likely go that route. However, if price was not a factor, I would go the OEM route.

I'm going to hold off on buying or building a hovercraft as I have confidence that the world won't be underwater in the 60 or so years that I have left on this planet.

Where are the L-seat covers made?

By the way, total respect on the vegan lifestyle. I eat kale and berries during the week...not joking, I really do!

I had a friend at work who told me "replace the romaine in your Caeser salad with kale! You'll love it!" Needless to say, we are no longer friends.

Try Tuscan kale, it's worlds better than standard kale in terms of taste and texture. Ive been doing the MIND diet for a year and I feel better at 39 than I did at 19. Of course the best aspect of the diet is the glass of red wine at the end of the day! :-)

Undoubtedly made in China.

What tools and supplies do I need to replace my seat covers? This year my original drivers side cover has finally started to pull apart where the cracking in the leather was. It funny the passenger side has no cracking so I guess it was the driver getting in and out of the car that made it crack.

Besides a wrench to remove the seat from the car you will need a "Hog Ring Plier". It is a plier with a groove in the jaws to hold the ring easily so you can close it. You will also need a supply of the "Hog Rings". They are rings that come open and you close them with the plier to attach the seat cover to the frame.

Definitely splurge the $20 or so for the specific hog ring pliers. They make the job infinitely easier, especially since you’ll be clamping dozens of the rings. Also consider wearing sturdy gloves when snipping off the old rings as well as installing the new ones. The hog rings are extremely sharp, and will easily bloody your hands.

For cutting the hog rings, I skipped the $20 amazon special hog ring cutter and ordered this:

https://www.knipex.com/index.php?id=1216&L=1&page=art_detail&parentID=&groupID=2028&artID=32478

Figured I'd rather have quality $45 multi-use cutters rather than a $20 one-time use. They're scary powerful for their size.

No complaints using the cheap hog ring pliers though.

Those look pretty heavy duty. They have to be cutting steel hog rings.

I ordered a set of hog ring pliers. They all looked pretty cheap so I just ordered on Ebay since Amazon seems to be slowing down on their shipping.

I recommend using some version of a locking sheet clamp to pull the two long indents along the the top piece while you hog-ring them against the back of the seat.

I don't really know what you mean but when I get my covers and tools I'm sure I will find out. I won't take the old ones off till I'm ready to start covering.

That looks good. The real quality will show in a few years, but also depends on how you treat the seats.

Mine were recovered 12 years ago and the car is used every season. But the car is always stored indoors, and twice a year I grease up the seats. They still look like new.
I always wanted to have the inner door panels recevered in that wrinckle pattern. But I was affraid of a color difference so I never touched it.

What color stitching did you select? Hard to see accurate colors on their website.

Do you know where you had those seat covers from? You know if they are still available?

Really nice seats.
I like your idea to use the shrink tubing on the lever. It looks really good and I?m sure it fells good (better than a cold metal lever).

Installed the dim grey L-seat covers that were made in 01/25. They are very loose fitting and required extra foam all around to get them taught and looking correct. A bit of sun exposure today before reinstallation. The extra foam brings some stiffness and comfort and they feel great to sit in. Also added stainless slider bars and touched up the tracks with Wurth black and some extra lube with Drummond Prizm.

Also, if anyone is looking for aluminum seat backs I have a new set for sale.
