I've "rebuilt" mine by replacing burnt
wires. I wish I tore mine down like yours,
it would have been easier to solder the joints.

Some place on the interwebs there used to be a picture of the interior of it as reference. I mean it seams like simple wires but always nice to have a sanity check lol.

That wiring used Teflon insulation. I think the problem was some units the wire touched the case and that wore though the insulation. When I first bought my car I had the same problem. I ended up getting a rebuilt unit from John Hervey. There is a thermal switch in there that switches a higher or lower power heating dependent on temperature.

They're not terribly difficult to rebuild if you have the right kit and good instructions. https://k-jet.biz

I looked at the website but didn't see the proper kit for our style CPRs.

Edit...I think i found it.

Typically when they burn up they can be repaired but then they must be recalibrated. John H used to do it.

I'm thinking mine was good other than the broken/burnt up wires. I found fuse 7 hot/melting so this was the first thing I went to.....

Yes, that can cause fuse #7 to melt. Also check the wiring and connections to the fuel pump. If you have an ammeter check the fuel pumps current draw. A failing fuel pump starts drawing excessive current.

DeLoreanGo stock fully refurbished control pressure/warm up regulators: https://www.deloreango.com/us/control-pressure-regulator-warm-up-regulator.html - professionally rebuilt by Ken Mills Injection https://www.kmipetrolinjection.co.uk/ (the only company I would trust with my fuelling components)

Along with rebuild kits for those who want to attempt that: https://www.deloreango.com/us/cpr-rebuild-kit.html

I have the modern DMCH fuel pump and and know all those connections are solid, if it was that I would be surprised and also disturbed.

I am not taking any of the fuel parts out of my CPR, only the body and the heater is disassembled, that should need any calibration correct? Calibration is to set the range of pressure, if I am wrong definitely let me know
