Hi
Anyone got a grey interior and refitted new dark grey carpets? (the dark gray carpets to go with some of the black interiors)?
The reason i ask is that i ordered a set of the light grey ones from Hervey, as I've got a grey interior, but he's sent me the dark grey ones. :sad30: Don't know why. Anyway before i sell them on I'd just like to know if the dark grey carpets look good with a grey interior. might save me some hastle.
cheers
Dave.

Why don't you just call Hervey and tell him he goofed? He should replace the carpet set for the correct one at his expense. However, I think I'd like to have the dark gray carpet in my gray interior car. The same goes for the dark gray headliners.

lay a couple pieces in place and see if you like it... better than a photo.

Which color is it?
I ordered the Opal from Hervey (the darker grey anyway) a few years ago with a greay interior. I did this on purpose becasue I likes the looks of it better.
But I must say it looks darker for real that it shown on this picture.

yeah, that's the one (second photo) can't believe it's the same carpet in both photos. they look completely different. I'm sort of minded to keep it. i do like the shade of grey.
the reason for me not putting in a couple of pieces is that half of the interior isn't installed yet and i can't get a clear indication, but John your last post has helped me make up my mind. thanks guys for your help. I'll post finished photos once I'm done!
cheers
Dave.

It is very difficult to show thru color on a picture. I can tell you that the car is parked always inside a garage that has very little light. So it could not have faded. Also there is no difference on the footwells compared to behind the seats. So no decoloration as far as I can see.
the first picture is taken outside in natural light. The difference in color between the seats and the colsole is far less than in thr second picture.
The second picture is taken indoors with a flash and 2 years + later.
When I removed the old carpet, I found the color under the console not so different than this new opal color.
But I think this is a perfect color combination, I like it a lot this way.
It is not difficult to built it in. I used glue. Be careful when you have to make the holes for the seats and the footrest. Make sure the complete carpet is glued and installed first.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my D. Having the dark grey carpeting and the dark grey headliners with the regular stock grey dash and kneepads and all. Make it a more custom two tone look with out going to the black side of the spectrum. I like the way it looks in the second photo too.

The only color change for me was the armrest. I had it recovered in black leather.
I think it goes very nicely too. I saw it on a picture. I removed the cigarette lighter, so it was the perfect moment to recover it with that hole sealed of.
But that is as far as I will go in 2 tone.
Meanwhile I had my steering wheel receovered too making it all look nice and new.
But my grey foot-carpets did not go with the new carpet. The color combination just did not look right. Now with the black armrest, it gives a perfect balance with black foot-carpets.
Good luck re-carpeting, it is a nice job, not difficult at all. The most difficult part is the wheel wells at rear. I used a paint stripper gun to soften the inside of the carpet, and let it cool off while over there. Worked perfect for me.
