The old wheel bearing looks like this on both sides...
63217
On the new bearing the two sides are different...
6321863219
Does the new bearing need to get installed in a specific direction?
Check with the vendor, but the side with all metal usually goes toward the direction road debris ect. is most likely to enter from.

I did my on one side years ago, but can’t remember precisely but remember it was a big job. My feeling is to put the metal side toward the C stop ring.

Sorry about my poor advice man, I think there is a C on each side. It´s Friday and I may be a little « tired ».

LOL...been there!
My guess is that the bearings have the same number with a different pre/suf-fix. And since the original one is the same on both sides, it shouldn't matter as long as the steel doesn't protrude father than the other one(s).
...Or just a replacement that includes a shield.

I wonder if that's the wrong bearing. The "metal" side does not appeared to be weather-sealed. If it is, I agree with Ron.

The bearing came from DeLoreanGo. I just heard back from them, and they say metal side towards the car.

They didn't say why. Though they also said it really doesn't matter.

it should still be weather sealed if its metal. You see metal seals in rough service environments, industrial kind of stuff.
I dont see how this has its place in a delorean, but it should not hinder anything.

I know this is an old thread but this info could be useful to others. I have the same bearings from DGo. The seals are different because one side is magnetic (the non-metal side) this is to support cars with ABS sensors. On those cars it’s imperative the bearing is installed in the right direction. Obviously, on our cars this doesn’t apply which is probably why DGO said it didn’t really matter.
