Interior Dome lights do not shut off with door switch.

I bought 2 new dome lights from Deloreango.com They are a new system with totally different plug setup. Instead of being 2 on one side and 3rd on the other end. These have 3 in a row that would work for a plug. So I had to try different configurations to see which ones would work. Finally found a configuration that has the light work in both front and back positions, and off in the middle. However. no matter what order I do, they do NOT shut off with the door closed. Even after 10 seconds.

My previous lights didn't work at all. they are in bad shape.

The new lights < bought Sylvania 6418 LED bulbs for.

So the lights are new, Bulbs are LED and new.

Door marker lights shut on and off like they should from the door switch.

I read something about the delay relay in the back doesn't work with LED lights, and read something about diodes that control "dome?" lights by the foot pedals?

yes, middle position turns off. Back position turns on, forward position turns on. middle is off. Neither front or back turns off automatically with the doors closed.

LED’s do not shut off with the original Dome light delay module. If you want one that works with LED’s you’ll need to get the one sold by Dave McKeen ( BITSYNCMASTR)

If you're using LEDs is the white relay removed?

I don't think my white relay is removed. It might be by a previous owner. Havn't looked yet. I'll investigate. but if the dome light will not trigger with LED anyway. I guess that might be the problem. :/

If the white relay is removed the lights should go out right away when the button is pushed. LEDs don't use enough power to make the relay work the way it should.

i didn't get a chance to investigate this, as I have my whole center unit pulled out, to rebuild my mode switch, install a new radio and fix the cig lighter functions, maybe the clock as well. i'll look into it when I get this put back together.

ok, finally got a chance to address the dome lights again.


Went and pulled out the white 3rd relay from the left (bottom Row).


Dome lights work like they should.

New Delorean go sockets (3 in a row connectors. Black wire on the far end. Purple with stripe other side, and solid in the middle)

And LED bulb installed.

Actually, they just turn off. That’s not how they should work. They should stay ON for the delay period then turn off, like modern vehicles. If you want that factory functionality you will need to get the digital DLM from (BITSYNCMASTR)

that's true, you do not get the 10 second delay anymore with this method. But I don't really care. I just wanted to be able to see while getting in the car.
