Oil Pressure Sensor (Warning Light) Torque Spec ?

Hey guys

Does anyone recall what the official torque spec is for the Oil Pressure Sensor (Warning Light) on Drivers side engine block aka Volvo p/n: 1218028-7[?

I've found similar sensors for other cars in the ballpark of 26-28 ft lbs.

I have a nice leak and have a new switch and copper crush/sealing washer to put in.

If it's just an aluminum thread then very little torque. Most of us just do it by a light feel then if it leaks give it a little more.

Use Teflon tape or, preferably, pipe thread compound.

I found that I needed 28 ft/lbs to properly crush the washer and provide a leak free installation.

Don't use Teflon Tape. The sensor needs to be grounded and if you use tape it could insulate it from the block. You can get it tight, I don't think there is a torque spec for it. The crush washer should prevent it from leaking but that sensor usually leaks from the end. The fix is to either take it all apart and seal it with silicone or replace it.

Dana/DMC-81 Going to give that 28 ft lbs a try with new oil pressure sensor and copper sealing washer.

Old one on car leaks pretty bad.

Just to prepare you for the inevitable disappointment, these rarely actually leak from the outer threads.

Usually they leak from the center, either due O-ring failure in OEM switches, or because all of the new ones are crap and let oil pass around the threaded inner part that the spade connector is attached to. There's a few threads about it. I packed my new switch full of oil-safe RTV and it's dry.

I wanted to use the gauge to check the oil pressure and was thinking to put it instead of the oil pressure switch ( for the dash light). But it seems have a very large diameter thread. Put the gauge on the right side. Remove the sender for the dash gauge. You will not find a fitting to fit the left side sender.
