Looks really nice!
Merci, thanks Domi.
Both of my seat are going to upholstery, as well as the shifter boots and handbrake boots. I will also leave him the 3quarter inside panel, upper door panel and headliners.
I will dye the rest.

Nice! I always thought the Proto interior color looked good.
Thanks Michael, yes me too. Hopefully I won’t replicate the Proto safety knee pad. But I will try to incorporate more bits that looks like stainless or steel inside.
Thank you all who are more purist oriented for being not too hard on me.
I myself hesitated before jumping into doing the interior differently, but after talking with different people, I found this could be done nice if done properly. For example, the seats are going to have the same stitching and form, but in the colour tan. Same for upper doors panels.
Take care and enjoy life.
Cool. I considered doing this but I’m such a fan of the black interior. Who knows? Maybe you’ll inspire me to change things up a bit:)
Can't wait to see the whole car finished.

You could always try changing the carpets & headliners to tan while leaving the rest of the interior black. Lots of modern cars go for that sort of subtle two-tone scheme. It could look quite sharp on a DeLorean!

Damn thats nice! Very 80's with the tan and if I ever bought another DeLorean I thought of a tan interior. Mine is a 2 tone grey and black and I love seeing the other colors people do! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200912/029d5f7e47535ff96a0472c1ea4a325e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200912/bd14bc99aab9bbec5bff0f049cf5646e.jpg

I have put one cover seat. The stitching pattern is the same, but ivory colour. It’s from L-Seat.

After thoroughly clean all the parts (I used med scotch brite with a mouse), I let them dry. I was able to do that today as the weather permitted and a perfect outside temperature too.
I use a dye from leatherique.

Beautiful work.
Thank you.
I am in the process of changing the colour of the binnacle, and recovering the dash also.
Victor
09-30-2020, 08:53 PM
I tried to cover the dash with a synthetic suedes. I don’t care if it fades by the sun, my objective is put a non-reflective material so I can see well through the windshield.
This can be reverted back to original since I did not glued the upper surface.
Victor

Binnacle and window trim.
I removed the dash for the second time, because didn’t like the brown color next to the orange glove box, knee pad...
I might remove it for a third time if I get too much reflection for that than shade of tan.

I don't know if it's just because I have seen nothing but black and gray in the past, but that looks damn good!
Wowzers, love it...do you have expertise in covering this kind of thing or is this all DIY ?
I am hoping the latter as it looks great....

Looks excellent so far. Looking forward to seeing whole thing.
I also like the black/gray. I just had whole thing apart last year working on the wiring/valves.
While apart I had the seats redone. They really needed it bad but wish I had looked into changing colors after seeing the 2 tone and brown so far.

Thank you very much! I appreciate it as it all hard work and patience, and patience again mostly.
The only thing that slow me down now is the crisp cold weather that slowly sets in, in the non heating garage.
Also I have to make the door pull strap, or have them make by an upholstery shop.
I’m unsure if I should redo the headliner in another colour (light yellow or cream?) or leave them this light grey?
It’s interesting to see the Delorean in other interior color. I personally would have prefer a little bit more golden than orange... I feel I got corrupted by that Fall pumpkin spice craze this fall!

Unfortunately the binnacle is only been dyed, with what is supposed to be a very good leather dye, but only time and baked hot summers will tell if it will hold, as well as the lower door panels, the knee pads and center console.
The real leather parts are the seats, the shifter and brake boots and possibly the upper door panels.
However, if some of the parts with the dye don’t hold its colour, I will go with a king of vinyl wrap or leatherette...
Thanks so much for all the positive feedback!
Here in Canada, it’s our thanksgiving weekend, so cheers! 🍺

That looks GREAT!
You did an awesome job on this. I also had never seen one other than black/gray. This looks just super classy & well done.
Are you thinking darker brown strap or same light/tan.
I can't state how nice I think this came out.
I could not blow up dash. Did you have to hand punch out for speakers, delete them or sound just through material?

Thank you!
I didn’t touch the front speakers, the sound go through the material no problem. And after a drive, I am happy to notice not much reflection or glaring from the dash material. So I’ll leave it like that.
I have xtra material from the seat for the pull straps, so I feel I’ll use that, but noticed that there is another material in between inside the pullstrap.

I could see where just the standard material would stretch or not last without the backing material.

Thank you White out and Steve! I appreciate!
Here are some pictures of the cup holder. Il is from DeloreanGo. I pay more to have it gray, not knowing I would paint it another colour anyway later. I also put a clear coat from a spray can of high temperature from the brand Procolor, availlable in Canada. In the bottom, I glued pieces of foamy faux tan suedes.
All the plastic part are also spray painted with a high temperature paint but importantly from Procolor. I tried VHT but it does not hold on plastic. (of course it’s not made for this) But for some reason Procolor High temperature is absolutely excellent on all the plastic parts. Even pressing as hard as one can with a fingernail won’t scratch the paint at all.
Looking really beautiful

Thanks for the feedback! 🍻
This project, I would not be able to finish it soon because the car will go shortly into winter storage mode. Also I have to wait to installed both A-post as the windshield need to be replaced, but probably only in the spring.
But I am very happy of how it turns out so far. That is a covid project somehow and it help me concentrate on the positive, and by brighten up the inside (I might get my dose of vitamin C for this yearÂ’s winter just by sitting in my car!!)
I figured that, it makes this already quite rare vehicle, even more unique.
Anyway, take care and enjoy life. ItÂ’s precious.

Working on the center console.
The metal plates are stainless steel. I chose to let it exposed at the shifter. But will probably clear it in the future. I am not going to deal with fingerprints inside as well...

FYI: I utilize PPF on all my stainless stuff and recently applied it to the stainless worktop on my new garage cabinets. Finger print and scratch-free for life!

I'm incredibly jealous of your garage floor. Is that an epoxy coating?

Polyurea coating with a low-gloss topcoat + heavy flake so I don't slip when it's wet. It's great - not slippery when wet.

Wow. Truly pioneering work!! I love this.
Clearly you have a lot of talent not only laying this material but also determine proper colors that complement themselves and the car.
Great job on this!

Thank you very much I appreciate this. It takes a little bit of boldness to make that decision. But I figured that since my interior was shot and in very bad state, might as well go for a shade that I would be comfortable spending my driving moments in.

Just a thought, but matching up the headliner to what you used on the dash would work well.

It’s a good idea, and would have look good 👍🏼. It’s just that the material I use - I don’t have many left, and can’t seems to find it anymore (amazon) Even in the history of what I previously order, it doesn’t show…
The rear section of the headliner is done. Both door too. The front section and the sun visors are at the upholstery. All in the light beige colour.
I will post pictures as soon as the remaining pieces are back.

Finally all the surfaces are done. What was left to do was the A-post, but I wanted to install the new windshield first.
The most stressful part was to wait and see if the windshield would arrived, and arrived in one piece. It is from dmc Texas.
Interestingly this new windshield is not as flat as the original one, with having a little curvature on the upper part, but the fitment is perfect.
I was for a few seconds debating about installing the rearview mirror. I thought about installing it on the top on the centre vent, like an old peugeot or something

Are the HVAC knobs painted?
Victor
08-29-2024, 06:24 PM
For the dash, I covered it with a kind of alcatara. It has a peel and stick side.
The knob were paint with high temperature urethane.
The A-post are from DMC Texas, and are fiber glass.
I am happy with the results. The custom carpet from dmc Texas fit perfectly.
The dye from Leatherique hold on very nicely after four years.
The leather from L-Seat still looks fresh. Also noting that all the parts that get to be handled and touch are real leather from L-Seat ( I did ordered an xtra yard) for the gear shifter boot, the hand brake boot, the pull straps, and of course the seat themselves.
The steering wheel cover from wheelskin is not the same color though. I could try to dye it later
I dont know.
