Hi Everyone,

Has any Delorean owners updated/upgraded their wiper arms?

I know you can change the rubbers with the new ones which look like a wide squeegy. But I'm thinking more of a streamlined look, with the new style of rubbers.

Just some images samples.

BMs seems to have some nice ones and so do Toyotas from memory.

I briefly considered it but didn't for two reasons:

1 I think it would take away from the retro look of the car, just a little out of place.

2 mine never sees rain, so money wasted in my case ;)

+1

I'm trying to avoid any rain at all. The D is a special car and looks unique, just the wipers look ordinary.

Take a look at the Rain-X Latitude - it's similar to the one in the second photo (which looks like a modern Volvo blade - basically a thick piece of rubber), but with a standard J-hook fitting. Over here, at least, they sell them at auto parts stores.

(I haven't tried one)

Rob from Holland has that. That is his picture here.
I do no drive in the rain either, but you should have good whipers in case it would start to rain on the way home. In 2 weeks I will have a 5 hour drive on a saturday, and I will go rain or shine. My blades are 5 years old, and hardly used. So time for a replacement.

I saw Rob's and I think I will go for it also. I hope he can respond also to this thread to give his experience.

I also try to avoid driving in the rain. I use Rain X so if it isn't raining hard I don't have to use the wipers. If you do change the wiper arms you have to figure out what to do with the wiper squirter.

I'm here!

The wipers work fine and are only 10% more expensive than the most basic ones. If there ever was a minor flaw it woudl be that there is a .5mm gap on the far right end on the windscreen when the car is not driving. As soon as road wind picks up, this is fixed. Perhaps it can be solved with a little bending/heating/whatever but it never bothered me.

I also aim to not driving in heavy rain, but i am living in Holland and it's hard not to. It's just the visibility (or lack of it) and the idiocy of other drivers i'm not trusting.

You would need to find wiper arms which are the right length, angle, height, hole size, etc. and have the proper number of splines where they attach. Perhaps you could go searching at a local junkyard, but this would likely take a while.

Problem is that these days, cars have blades in different lengths. Drivers side arm can be 2 or 3 incher longer than the passengers side.
The ones I have now are 50cm long. And I have been looking at them the last weekend, and they me be longer easily.

So would it be a weird look to have 2 different sizes of blades, or would that be hardly noticed. I do not like to buy 2 sets to use just half of each.

Wiper blades come single, not a pair together. so it is easy to buy 2 different sizes.

The store I was in, only had whiper blades from Bosch and they are all in pairs.
I have to look further in other stores obviously. No Pep Boys in the area

John, if you would *really* like to have a pair, and can always go back to that old shop where I bought them, and see if they have any left, get a pair, and get them to you somehow..

Dag Rob,

Thank you so much for your offer!
But I have only been looking in one store, so I will look further. If I cannot find any, I'll let you know.
But thank you.
