I seen it coming, but the upper exhaust mount broke while I was driving. I need to get a new one ASAP and I was curious, Are these parts able to be reinforced by welding?

As a side note, are there any temporary fixes so I can still drive the car without having the muffler destroy the other two brackets?

Make sure the muffler clamp on the cat is tight, and take the broken part off before it fall into the alternator blades.

Interesting, I just realized I don't even have this bracket on my car right now. I've got the 2 lowers, plus it's the UK exhaust so I hoped the design helped support it better but yea, definitely no upper muffler bracket.

I heard the bracket bouncing around on the belt and knew right away it went. I got the entire unit off right now and I came to the realization that I dont even have an exhaust clamp

Systems with headers don't really need it.

Agreed. The first SPEC I systems we produced as prototypes didn't use it. But for visual purposes owners demanded the addition of the third mounting point. My personal car has no brackets what so ever and is supported via the beefy 3 bolt collector flanges on my system. It cleans up the lower engine a bit appearance wise.

I had no idea this part was prone to failure. I was servicing my car today and found it broke in half and just resting on top of my alternator. Must have been broke for awhile. At least since March (the last time I serviced the car). The top of my alternator had a nice shiny little wear divot in it. Thankfully it didn't get tangled up in the belt or alternator blades. Truthfully its not that old either. Age wise it's probably been on the car since early 2000 but maybe has 20 or 30K miles on it. Learn something new everyday I guess.

If you havent already, order one of DPI Josh's brackets. It's made with thick (stainless?, if I remember correctly) and built to last. It has worked great for me so far and I highly recommend it
