Just got home from vacation in Greece. While we were wandering around Athens, my wife spotted this for sale at a roadside drink stand. It's a vinyl folio to keep your ID and vehicle papers in. Anything look familiar? It definitely lives in my glovebox now...

Were any DeLoreans even delivered there? So random!

Also picked up a few international version BTTF Hot Wheels since I happened to see them :)

EDIT: Sorry the pics are displaying sideways, they aren't actually! I can't figure out why the forum rotated them like that.

I *absolutely* wanted to get more. I saw it and thought holy crap, I can get a case of these and give them to everyone who's ever answered one of my dumb questions....

The guy only had one silver and one gold though, and I didn't figure anyone would want the gold one.

Do you know what it says on the front?

I can read the letters but can't translate it. The middle line says "Diploma" though, which I would guess indicates some sort of paperwork, possibly a driver's license?

EDIT: The first line, "Adeia" loosely translates as "Permit"

I think Ryan meant the folio, not the HW car. :)

That is awesome, btw. I would love one of those. Was this a combo drinks/garage sale stand? Was he selling it as "new" (my father-in-law partially lives in Greece so I may send him out shopping if they are new items)

; F-me; google translate is awesome, they even have a Greek keyboard:

Awesome! I was using Babelfish and wasn't getting anywhere :)

And yeah, I meant the folio too - he had one with gold foil instead of the silver foil printing. It was "new", yes. It was just an executive kiosk in Athens right outside the Monastiraki metro stop by the flea market.

FWIW, I clicked your Google Translate link and it translated as "PATENT LICENSE REQUIREMENT" - the words appear to have contextual meaning and there are several available definitions for all three. One thing is certain, the common thread is that it's meant to hold your driving papers. :)

Its pretty much to keep your drivers licence and paper work in there. And translates to: DEGREE DRIVER LICENSE, it sounds better in Greek. Like in all languages when you translate something sometimes does not sound right. My background is Greek. I visit Greece often, I have plenty of relatives there. They don't have regular drivers licence cards there like we do here in the states. They have a big paper with all this info, and their pictures, and they have to fold up. lol!

That is cool what you found!!

Awesome! Thanks for filling in the gaps for me :) I will use it proudly for my registration, insurance, and miniature "save the clock tower" flyer :)

Sorry to dig up this old thread,
Member "Dangermouse" has asked me to look for more of these.

Could you please open this up and see if there is any other print inside of it? Like a phone number etc?
Thanx

Nope, nothing. Completely blank. I bought it from a touristy vendor on the square at Monastiraki like I said. Wish I had bought more of them actually.

Dibs on the first one :)

If you guys actually find them, I'd like a second one. It doesn't really hold up to the heat in the car as well as I'd hoped, so mine is sorta warped and wrinkly now. Would like a second one to keep nice :)

Gonna be tough to get rich off these, I think I let myself be suckered into paying 1 EUR for it.

So with a 15% markup, split two ways, I think we could easily clear a profit of 60 or 70 cents by the end of the year.

20% for the gold one you mentioned, obviously.
