Been a super long time since I've been here on DMCTalk, and that fact has crossed my mind a few times over the past few weeks. Wanted to log in and drop a post to say hello to all of you fine folks. Life has been a rollercoaster of everything you can think of for the past few years and so much has changed. As things are finally starting to settle, I thought I'd reconnect with the forum and everyone here.

I hope everyone I know (and those I do not) are all doing well and staying safe in these crazy times.

Duuuuuude!!! Great to see you on here. I still check this forum regularly, but a lot of the Atlanta crowd only does Facebook now, as I'm sure you know.

My car hasn't been running for quite a long while, which has undoubtedly contributed to my neglect here.

Hey Dude! Were you at a few SEDOC Tech Sessions back in 2008+ ? I believe I met you a time or two.

Not sure on a SEDOC FB Group but someone should start one up!

FB and it's agenda is pure junk. Got out of there in 2012.

Hey Chris, welcome back. I haven't been very active here either over the past couple of years but I do login and read a few posts here and there time permitting.

That's a little earlier than my time. I bought my car in 2011.

I do indeed, however it has made very little progress over the years since I've been gone.

I did however finally get my DMC back up and running this week. Needed a new ignition coil. It was so nice to drive it again after so long.

Thank you! I gave it a MUCH needed bath, since it's been sitting dormant in the garage for quite a long time. Tomorrow I'm going to do an oil change and at some point soon I need to replace the speedometer angle drive (AGAIN).

My new house doesn't have nearly as awesome a driveway as my last place (I KNOW I KNOW I KEEP MOVING AND IT FUCKING SUCKS). But as soon as COVID gets beaten back some more, absolutely count on me organizing something. I would love to see everyone again. Way too long indeed.

I swear, these cars have some kind of sensor in them that detects when you fix things. As soon as you push in a working part, another working part somewhere else on the car dies. I replaced the door struts and the ignition coil, and now the e-brake stopped working.

I'm also sick to death of replacing the goddamn angle drive. I've replaced it three times since owning the car, and it needs another one. (Has for a while.) What's funny is that everything between the AD and the speedo is lubed up and spinning freely.

OMG, yes!!! I've said similar things to my wife in the past, when coming in from the garage in frustration. I've decided it's best to leave "one thing" broken, something that's not too bothersome, to check the box and keep the DeLorean car gods happy.

Have you tried the one-piece speedo cable, that bypasses the yellow Lambda counter? I got one from Grady a long time ago, and the angle drive has been ok ever since.
It's a pain to remove the gauge cluster to connect it, but was well worth it. I polished the clear instrument cluster plastic while it was all out.

I haven't. I'm goofy in that I like the LAMBDA counter, but the last time I replaced the AD I did actually disassemble the counter and made sure it was lubed up nice and good, then once I had the lower speedo cable hooked up I made sure everything was turning freely through to the upper cable.

I mean if it comes down to it I suppose I could switch to the one-piece cable, but I would do that only if it really really really came down to it. The idea of an instrument cluster teardown does not appeal to me in any way. (I'd probably do an LED conversion at the same time on all the supported bulbs in there though.)
