Does anyone know if DMC used any specific brand of tools? I was under my dash today on the drivers side removing my instrument cluster when I found a 17mm wrench made by Chrome-Vanadium above the AC tube. I've owned the car for 22yrs so I know it's not mine. Before I got the car it didn't undergo any dash services, or really any maintenance for that matter. I'm surprised it never fell out while I was driving.

Chrome-Vanadium is a type of metal, not a brand. Has anyone but you worked on the car since you’ve owned it? Are you sure your mechanic didn’t leave it in there at some point?

Since I bought it 22yrs ago I've never sent it to a mechanic other than DMC Midwest. But they didn't do any work in that area. I've done all the rest of the work on the car. Before me I guess it could have happened, but I don't recall any receipts for work done to the car that involved that area. It was mainly brakes, clutch, door handles. That type of stuff.

The car did come with a tool kit that included wrenches, plyer & what not and they were in a rollable tied black pouch. The were more generic looking and not stamped like that. I have mixed mine up with my other tools.

DMC had a deal with Kent-Moore to supply the special tool kits to the dealers, it did not include the "standard" kind of stuff like ordinary wrenches, screwdrivers or pliers. It is possible it was left behind by someone. Maybe not the factory but one of the QAC's. Things were not as tightly controlled and managed there like it was in the factory. The wrench you found is not a very high quality wrench.
