As promised on my facebook, here are the photo's from my personal rust inspection. It's pretty bad. In the from the rust has caused some layers of steel to expand slightly. My plan for this is to tomorrow remove all chipping/loose rust and use POR-15/Rustoleum Rust inhibitor to stop any more damage from occuring, and buy me more time to save up for a new frame.

Hey Renee,
One thing you might be able to look into is a replacement Fuel Tank Closing Plate (FTCP). It's the big panel covering the bottom of the fuel tank and has 7 bolts holding it on down each side.
My FTCP was in worse shape than yours when I got the car and so I decided to get a new one instead of trying to salvage the old one. I went with stainless for the FTCP and here are some pics.

I may have to do that...if you don't mind me asking, how much was it?

Hervey sells 'em in aluminum, $295. http://www.specialtauto.com/delorean-parts/frame-body.html about halfway down. Other vendors may as well but I know that's where I saw it.

I want to say about $275 but I'll have to double check. Another owner on the forum here made I think 7 of them at the time. Not so sure there are still any left. I've seen a few other people/places sell them. Money well spent for me considering mine was beyond repair. Aluminum might be a better idea though even as my SS one was fairly heavy. It sure does cosmetically look nice :). Now if I only would have had a bit more patience when I did my POR15 work it wouldn't look so sloppy. A lift is definitely a good idea if you're doing frame touch ups.

I got about 60% of the rust removal and inhibiting done today. Cosmetically, it looks like crap. I sprayed the rustoleum all over the bottom. Pretty it is not, but effective. It's like black/grey tie dye under there. :)

Beautiful. I love this. This just became my new description of my POR15 work too :) Post some pics and we'll critique each other's artistic skills, lol.

My coworkers know when I've been in the Por15. I don't wear gloves unless I'm painting something that I don't want grease on so I usually have black spots on my hands for days.

As you want to install a new frame some day, you might want to consider to have the trailing arms etc. already powder coated. They take quite a beating, and you do not want them to fail on you.
I have installed a SS tank plate myself. I bought it in France.
