Battery cables replacement

I've got replacement battery cables I'd like to put in. The black ground, the red positive and the red jump post lead as well. Even have a new rubber boot to put over the ends of the red ones where they connect at the alternator.

I'm not quite certain how the routing is or what needs to move or be slid around to get them in or out. Does anyone have pics showing the routing? Or a good explanation at least?

My body is not going to be coming off the frame to do this, so I surely hope that's not part of the procedure. I can get a pretty good look at the positive cable from underneath and it seems to go along tight to the trailing arm at least in one area. My ground cable looks terrible right where it connects to the right side engine mount. Actually, I have new engine mounts and was considering putting those in at the same time since at least one or two of the bolts will need to be loosened up presumably.

Any tips or tricks to get my old ones out and the new ones in would be appreciated.

they are fairly straigtforward to do.. just pay attention to where the old ones route.. other than that i dont think you will have any problems...

I was hoping that'd be the case. I can see at least one plastic clip tucked up in there that I can move the cable off of beforehand.

Is there a preferred direction to pull them out from? I assume I want to pull the cables towards the rear of the car as opposed to towards the front and into the battery compartment? I haven't done this yet, but would I be correct in saying that once they're both disconnected from the battery and you push the grommets out of the battery compartment, the whole cable will suddenly feel a lot easier to move?

Actually, I think I had one thing confused already. I was thinking the black cable terminated on the engine mount, but that's not right. It terminates on the trailing arm bolt bracket on the passenger side. It looks ok, but it's the short ground cable between the frame and engine mount that looks all frayed and beat to shit. Might have to see about getting one of those on order and replaced...

That one just bolts from the engine mount bolt on the engine side (long stud) to the engine mount bolt on the frame side. It is a very important ground. without it you will lose starter and alternator functionality as well as some of the case grounded sensors.

Looking back at my notes (aka LARGE spreadsheet, lol), I got the positive cable from DMCH and the negative and jump start cable from DMC Europe. More often than not, I lump parts together in orders when I need something unique that not everyone else carries. The Europe order I think was because I wanted the DMC logo valve stem caps and they were the only ones that carried them. The cables have the grommets and boots already on them I thought I'd also mention.

Mine is abysmal looking too. EDIT: and upside down apparently too. My computer has decided to be a dick at the moment, sorry about that.

I don't have one right yet, but will put an order in for some odds and ends and that'll be on there.
