I got a complete exterior LED light kit from Deloreango. I just installed all the lights. It also comes with a flasher designed for LED's. I've heard that the low current draw will not trigger a standard flasher. I was testing the lights and decided to test the old flasher with the new lights and it worked fine. Do I need to change the flasher anyways? Will the old flasher hurt anything?
To anyone considering the Deloreango kit, I recommend it. The lights are just slightly brighter than stock. I've heard others say their LEDs are lots brighter and I really didn't want that. This kit probably costs more than sourcing them myself, but it's nice not having to figure out which and how many bulbs to get.

If your LED turn signals are functioning with the Relay that is already installed, then a previous owner swapped it out already. Otherwise, it absolutely will not work with the OE relay.

That's weird because none of the bulbs I pulled out were LEDs. Does the LED flasher work with any kind of bulbs?

With traditional incandescent flasher modules, the resistance of the bulbs themselves is part of the timing circuit. When you replace them with LEDs, the lower draw of the bulbs changes the timing and makes them blink faster. This is also why your turn signals blink faster when one of the bulbs is blown.
LED-compatible flashers use a different timing mechanism, and don’t rely on the bulbs themselves for the timing circuit. They work with any kind of bulb.
So it’s possible the PO had a bad flasher and replaced it with a new one that just happens to be LED compatible.

Makes sense. The blink rate seems a little fast, but it didn't change after the LEDs.

Yes. The LED Flasher with work with standard Incan bulbs as well.
