View Full Version : Electrical Help! Cut Wire

I need some help.

My car have a cut wire and a couple of un-plugged connectors:

The first one is a connector located by the fuse compartment, close to the firewall.

Is this connector supposed to be empty?

The second one is a connector located by the coil resistor and is not connected to nothing. This wire goes to the coil compartment (last picture) and as you can see, the two green wires are cut, were those wires suppose to go?

Thank you in advance!

I believe the first one is for a hot start relay you can use if you're having hot start issues. Only supposed to be used in emergencies I think.
Shown here: http://specialtauto.com/delorean-parts/electrical.html about halfway down the page on the left.

The second one I believe has to do with whether your car is auto or manual. One leaves it unplugged. I assume its manual but I cant remember.

Not sure about the last one.

Thank you for your reply!

So on the first one, nothing should be there?

The second and the last is the same wire, one side, by the coil resistor has a connector, the other end, by the coil compartment seems like someone needed a connector and just cut that one.

First picture is hot start relay plug. Its supposed to be empty.

Second picture is a plug for an automatic transmission. This plug was included in manual transmisison cars and its normal to have. My concern would be if you had something plugged into it and had a manual transmission.

The third picture, I've got no clue. I'd trace the wire and see if it runs to a bulkhead connector.

EDIT: A green only wire should be, Governor Power (two, one is fuse 13), ECU pin 1, or the Otterstat, me thinks.

Hmmm... I'm probably confused then; but for some reason I thought that plug was related to transmission. Maybe its that its unplugged if you have an auto... Perhaps dont put stock in what I said until someone else verifies it, haha.

here's the wiring diagram if it helps:

Problem is, those two wires run from the coil resistor area to the coil compartment and are not connected on either side!

You had to make me go look...Your colors are all wrong (see Dr. ).

They are green-brown and green-white (?pink?). The "resistor end" just hangs. Those by the coil go to the black bulkhead connector (which must be connected because of a jumper).

Just remembered I had my fascia harness...let me double chech if it's the black plug or the same harness...?

Too much of this:

Yes, you are right, green/brown green/white.

I have an auto transmission.

Do you happen to have a pictor of the black bulkhead connector you are referring too?

I have an auto and nothing connected to this connector, I might be missing something, that wir runs to the end by the coil compartment.

OK. It just hangs there on the other end too. It had a dark-Redish plug that will fit in the black bulkhead connector but that is for the rear fascia wiring harness.
I'd tape the one end off good and forget about it.

I have an auto and just double checked.
