Is there a best vender for this piece? I suspect I am going to need one soon, under very low fuel / high demand situations I think it's starting to collapse. fully fueled, the car is fine. Low fuel (below 1/8 tank), if you go WOT, you will occasionally get a momentary cut out.

All of the venders have a good pick-up hose. If yours is in good shape, only soft, you may be able to fix it with a spring inside. If it is very soft, swollen, cut, kinked, or when you touch it your hands get all black it should be replaced.

I'd start with a spring. It's $5 vs $42.
The reason I recommend the spring first is that there are a lot of similiar symptoms these cars can display that initially point to collapsing or torn pick-up hose but which turn out to be something else.
I did the spring trick but the car still dies. How clean is your tank?

I agree with Dave G. It's rare to have a problem with a full tank. How repeatable is the failure? Have you tested the voltage on the fuel pump terminals? Maybe you just have a weak pump that can't deliver enough under high loads.
Edit:
I mis-read your post. You only have the problem with low tank level.

Well the problem is only when the tank is very low on fuel, under high load, and refueling corrects it instantly. Pretty sure it's a pick up issue.
Also, how does the original set up compare to the new baffle sold by specialTauto, is there a quality / performance difference under low fuel conditions? Ease of instillation I would imagine is significantly easier with the specialTauto kit, but it is a bit more expensive than a $40 hose.

That moves the pickup to the front of the tank. So if your going uphill, you can't run the tank as low. Of course you could say the same for the pickup at the back of the tank and going downhill. But where would you want to stall the car, going uphill or downhill?

The Hervey pickup works fine in both my D's. If the gas is VERY low I get a momentary stall when I make a fast sharp right turn (as in pulling out into traffic).
My other cars can't make a fast sharp right turn at all however - the minivan has no fast in it, and If you try to accelerate while pulling out in the prius the wheels will move at different speeds and traction control kills the throttle for about 2/3 of a second, then it goes, then it stalls again, then the hummer nearly creams you, so you quickly learn not to do that again.
In comparison then, two Deloreans with Hervey pickups and no failures (10 years use total), both work better than modern cars - never ran out of gas going uphill, downhill or level. This is my experience anyway.
The oem setup works well too, if you don't kink the hose, if it doesn't collapse, and if the rubber doesn't go bad. You can put a spring in it, but none of the vendors sell them with springs in them or sell the springs either AFAIK.

I had the same problem, low fuel, at WOT, stutter....
Found out that the PO sut the metal tube inside the tank and removed the complete return line inside !!!
Way to go !
I changed every hoses inside and now it's great. The return line must be good for fuel on the outside too. So this wh you need the one from Delorean not any fuel line !
