I am planning to visit Dunmurry mid May. Driving both ways from Warsaw, Poland. Perhaps my plan is a little bit too optimistic. Anyhow, I strongly suspect any DeLorean owner, myself included, have local tow truck on speedial, same goes for local garage with knowledge and understanding of DeLorean.
I would very much appreciated contact info from owners along the way. I do promise not to overuse it or impose in any way, just the phone call only in emergency asking for direction to recommended workshop. This is all what could be needed. Of course meeting for coffee or lunch and discussion about plight of DeLorean owner life is also viable option.
In normal circumstances I do most of the work around Delo myself but that requires tools and spares. Since I will be travelling with my wife the boot space will be filled by her makeup bag and cargo space behind seats by her outfits. There will be no room left for tools or spares. As guys with some experience in married life would confirm, with passage of time makeup bag is only getting bigger. And I have been married quite some time.
Anyhow, if you are DeLorean owner somewhere along the way from Warsaw to Dunmarry and could help in very unlike occurrence of DeLorean breaking down please do contact me.

Jakub,
As you are already member of the DOD (http://www.DeLoreanOwnersDirectory.net), you have at hand a list of DeLorean Owners around the world. The current DOD shows owners in the following countries that have volunteered their contact information, including:
Poland - 2 (including yourself)
Germany, - 58
Netherlands – 7
Belgum – 11
United Kingdom – 42
France - 24
Ireland – 7
Directory listings show name, address (if provided), telephone number, email address, and owner contact preferences (including tools & space available), among other things. This would be perfect for your trip. You can print the paper copy of the DOD and take it with you...
68380 68384 (http://www.DeLoreanOwnersDirectory.net)
…or better, all of the same information is available via the world’s only DeLorean VIN mobile app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=citizenkidd.dod).
68381 68383 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=citizenkidd.dod)
If you have not already, I recommend downloading it now and view it before your adventure. It is free of charge from the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=citizenkidd.dod), and there are NO advertisements! Utilizing the DOD keeps your contact information out of the public domain, thus only available to other verified owners. You can even directly message other DeLorean owners privately.
Whatever you do, have a safe and uneventful trip. Keep a log, and please tell us about it after your return home.
Azar, you are welcome as well, to join the DOD (http://www.DeLoreanOwnersDirectory.net).

Plenty of UK owners available via the UK Owners Club, What route are you taking through the UK? Have you contacted anyone in N.Ireland regarding visiting the site? I'ts not really that accessible. I certainly have plenty of tools on hand if required but clearly it depends on your route and if I'm at work!

Thomas 68382Thanks Thomas, I already have an app and my VIN and information is there. But looks like I need to create account and password to be included and search the smaller owners list. Will do!
BTW, I quickly looked at the DOD website and did not find my VIN there.

Just curious, what is the app you already have?
BTW, I quickly looked at the DOD website and did not find my VIN there.
While your VIN's build information is found in the Registry (http://www.citizenkidd.com/dmc/pages/vinview_disp.aspx?start=5257), you still need to enter contact info to be included in the DOD (http://www.DeLoreanOwnersDirectory.net). Here is the shortcut link (http://www.citizenkidd.com/dod/pages/dod_add.aspx) to do so.
Feel free to email or PM me if you need any help.
Thanks,
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
Didn’t know about this utility of the app, but then again as far as electronics go I am as advanced as desert mud hat is advanced building design.
Will keep in mind.
Thanks for info

Hello Chris,
I am planning as follow – Channel tunnel, London, Redditch (I am also Royal Enfield owner), Holyhead.
And on the way back Cairnryan, Edinburgh, Hull.
As for factory my understanding was there is some automotive production there.
As it happens I have some contact with big industry on the professional level. Those days even if you are invited with legitimate business usually it requires filling zyllion forms, health and safety training, boots, vests, helmets, glasses and who knows what else.
And we don’t even mention COVID restrictions.
I would expect it would be similar in Dunmurry. I wouldn’t dare to think they let some stranger into the site only because his car was manufactured there 40 years earlier.
Do you think it’s possible to get to the track? It would be absolutely awesome.

Id have offered my help if needed or to meet up but im near derby which both routes miss by quite a distance (unless you're not in a rush and fancy a few detours) :driving1:

...
Previously known as Montupet, know it is Linamar Light Metals Belfast.
https://www.linamar.com/location/linamar-light-metals-belfast/
In other buildings of the previous DMCL-facility, there was a facility of Bombardier. These have been sold to Spirit Aerosystems. They have some other locations in Belfast too. I don't know if the Dunmurry facility is still in production.

Either it's different Derby or it's almost on my way. If things will go according to plan we should be there Monday or Tuesday May 10th ot 11th. Since VIN of our DeLorean's differ by less than 100 numbers I would strongly stipulate some Science Conference with side by side comparisons. Who knows we could write the paper or even perhaps PhD thesis on DeLorean improvements by manufacturing numbers.

on your way through you get relatively close to where im at, so it'd be a slight detour north based on your route I'll be available that Monday (9th) for most of the day

I'm close to Cambridge myself so 'probably' not on your route either, however feel free to get in touch if you need anything. I don't think you can access the test track and from the last pictures that were floating about it's very very overgrown at the moment as unfortunately the normal cycle of clearing it for Eurofest was missed this time around. Have you tried to contact anyone on the DeLorean Owners Ireland forum? I'm sure there would be more help over there?
Chris

You shouldn't fear because of the car. If it is good, then it is good. I did this trip from Hungary to Ireland two times, with only a few minor problems.
I suggest, you should make a video, it is good to look back a few years later.

Ragley Hall Alcester Classic Car show last Sunday.
Best overheard comments.
Gentleman to his wife: This is car from Saudi
68466
Does this numberplate looks Saudi to you?
And another gentlemen exclaiming: Nice Ferrari innit?
Yes, directly from Italy I replied.
From now on new nickname for DeLorean is Ferrari from Saudi.

When do you reckon you will hit N. Ireland. If I'm free I could meet you near the factory if you wanted. Possibly get another couple of owners too?

Will DeLorean make it?
Was my main concern on the way.
Turns out DeLorean is fine, DeLorean is perfect, there is nothing wrong with DeLorean. It’s a squishy, fleshy thing between seat and steering wheel who failed.
My wife and myself both contracted Covid. In a sense there is something funny about it. We’re both triple vaccinated, for two years of official pandemic no one from immediate family was sick, now pandemic is over, we’re on fabulous holiday and we both got it. There is some irony in that.
Anyhow we got as far as Nottingham but decided to head back home.
Got back Monday.
All in all DeLorean did 2550 miles /4100 kilometres. The passenger side central locking actuator stopped working, it’s the only fault to report
I am not going to wait for celebrations in 2026, May next year is already marked in the calendar. We will repeat the trip, hopefully all the way to Dunmurry on this occasion.
