Removing crossbrace

So what started as a replacing a waterpump has grown, substantially. I noticed that the rear crossbrace is severely rusted and I wanted to get it properly cleaned up. I got the drivers side bolt out but the passenger side "captive nut" is spinning. I tried to gently pry up to apply some pressure and get it to grab, no dice. Any other tips? Looked around and I didn't see any access. Any help would be appreciated!

The captive nut is located in the upper mount for the rear shock. You'll need to remove the spring to get to it.

Can you get a long screwdriver or punch into the captive nut box and hold it from spinning while you try to remove the bolt?

Maybe? I've not seen what the captive nut box looks like from the bottom side. I'll take a look when I get home.
