vacuum hose in central console

Am I correct that the left (red arrow) hose is the vacuum feed line from the vacuum reservoir at the back of the car to the mode switch?

What is the much thinner plastic hose on the right (yellow arrow). It was loose, or I pulled it loose removing the console :cry:

Yes, the one on the left is the mode switch's vacuum feed. The other one connects the mode switch to the water valve.

It's a vacuum line to the hot water valve located at the back of the engine above the bellhousing. It turns the hot water off when selecting the MAX AC mode.

Yes.

When the mode switch is set to MAX Air, vacuum, from Port #3, goes to a tee. The tee feeds the re-circulation flap and the water valve. The flap prevents outside air from going through the cabin. The water valve prevents engine coolant from circulating through the heater core.

A long time ago I plumbed a medical vacuum valve into the line so that I could turn the water off manually. This way I could run the A/C in "normal" and still have the hot water off. No need for it in the summer.
