If you can't find a good flywheel you can buy just the starting ring gear.

A ring gear is $180 + shipping, then all the work to remove the old and install the new one and then balance. A refurbished flywheel is $300 so it might not make sense to go through all the ring work. Figured I'd just see what is out there.

The work to remove is mostly in removal from the car. I doubt it?s much work to remove from the flywheel. I admit I?ve never done this on our cars, but I?ve changed lots of ring gears on aircraft and it?s easy. Also, I?ve never balanced any of them. The balance is related to the motor, not the ring gear.

I was thinking the same thing you don't have to balance them after replacing the ring gear.
There's plenty of videos on this and it's not really that bad of a thing to deal with. Just have to make sure it's on the right way.
I will suggest if you're going through all this work might as well replace the seals and pilot bearing.
