Had a strange noise start about a week ago.
My first guess is exhaust leak.
But have not had time to really look.
So I figure I post a video and see if anyone has heard this before.

I sounds a lot like an exhaust leak....When the engine is cool, you might try running run a steady stream of water all around and under the manifolds, listening for a distinct change in the sound.

Talk about a wheezy breather. WOW! The ticking is definitely a blown manifold gasket. next time don't move the camera around so much I almost :vomit_1: and shed some light on it.

Also try reving the engine a little as you do the next video clip.

(STATUS: PISSED)
- One broken easy out and many drill bits + swear words later, headers were installed using the other 6 alternating stud holes.
(STATUS: KICKING SELF)
- Went to muffler shop, explained what needed to be done and gave website for reference.
(STATUS: HOPEFUL)
- Get call from muffler shop that work was done without calling first by mistake.
(STATUS: ANNOYED)
- Muffler shop explains they had to weld muffler to header for support.
(STATUS: CURIOUS)
- Asked muffler shop if they used hangers at other side of muffler like the website shows. ANSWER: "No, let me look at the site again."
(STATUS: DISAPPOINTED)
- Muffler shop calls back again, "okay we added the hangers."

Um, did they "unweld"?
No the muffler is still welded to the header.
I haven't fully inspected the weld, but it appears to be cover 25 to 50 percent of the circumference of the the pipe.
It also appears that they included the clamp in the weld.
I will post pictures of the install, once I get back under the car.

No idea what that sound is, but it sounds absolutely horrible. I wouldn't even run the car until I had someone figure it out, but that's just me.

Oooof. Agreed with Darren. Spun rod bearing?

My vote is one of the belt driven accessories, probably the AC compressor. I would try taking your belts off, then starting the car and see if it still makes the noise. Start with just the AC belt, and if its still making it, try taking the other off. Obviously dont run it for too long (without a water pump or alternator), but you could do so for 30 seconds or so without hurting anything. At least then you would know if it was coming from any of your AC compressor, idler bearings, waterpump, or alternator. I've heard bad ac compressors make some pretty terrible noises in the past. Does your AC work? Is the system properly lubricated? That's definitely where I'd start.

If it's not something belt driven, pull your valve covers to make sure everything is kosher up top.

Doesn't seem like it could be in the lower end because if it was a bad bearing or something on the crank, I doubt the engine would be running so smoothly; it's probably be shaking like crazy.

Hooray! :yesss::thankyou: haha. Thanks for the offer on the pizza roll but I just ate. Go ahead and enjoy it for me. :D

I'm just seriously glad to hear that it was only a $10 belt an not something significantly more costly and time consuming!

AC belt. I knew before posting the video.

Nah, this was around the same time as exhaust leak. But at time was hard to distinguish one from the other. If you listen closely to the original video. You can hear the two noises combined.
